m.shusterLast night at the sixth annual Mr. PA Football banquet at the Holiday Inn in Grantville, Michael Shuster added one more award to his mantle, he was named Small School Mr. PA Football.

“It’s a incredible honor to win this award,” said Shuster. “Ever since you’re a kid you always dream of being considered one of the best football players in the state and the fact that it came true today is a incredible feeling.”

Shuster is coming off a record setting career at Camp Hill. He finished his career passing for 9,717 yards and 108 touchdowns which ranks him fourth all-time in Pennsylvania history.

“Michael is one the best kids I have ever known.  His leadership on and off of the field over the last four years has been critical to the development of our program,” said Head Coach Frank Gay. “On the field… his knowledge of the game was second to none at the high school level.”

Shuster was among five finalists that included FS Andrew Pryts of Hickory, OL Connor McGovern of Lake-Lehman, RB Evan Chadbourn of Bishop Guilfoyle and CB Lamont Wade of Clairton.

Shuster finished the 2015 season passing for 2,684 yards and 33 touchdowns while leading his team to their second straight District 3 Class A title.

Last October he accepted a preferred walk-on at Michigan. He reconsidered and decided to stay closer to home as a preferred walk-on at Penn State.

“I was committed to Michigan and switched over to Penn State,” said Shuster. “The two biggest reasons were I can stay close to home and offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead. I am really excited of what he has going on up there and the offense is very similar at what we do just a little more complex.”
