m.shusterMichael Shuster is the top quarterback in Class A. He threw for 2,683 yards, completing 60.2 percent of his passes, had 33 touchdowns and rushed for 676 yards equating to nine touchdowns this season.

In his career he passed for 9,717 yards and 108 touchdowns. That ranks him fourth all-time.

Back in October the 6-foot-3, 200 pound quarterback picked Michigan next season as a preferred walk-on.

He’s a four-year starter and had drawn interest from several FCS programs.

Q&A with Head Football Coach Frank Gay

Q. What has it meant to coach Michael for four years?

A. Michael is one the best kids I have ever known.  His leadership on and off of the field over the last four years has been critical to the development of our program.  On the field… his knowledge of the game was second to none at the high school level.  He consistently would audible out of bad plays and into good ones from his freshman year on.  This year in a HUGE win over Palmyra… We were down by four points with four minutes to go in the game.  Michael called every play on the game winning drive except the last play when we called time out.  Not many High School QB’s in the country can do that.

Q. Is he the best quarterback you have ever coached or coached against?

A. Michael is the best quarterback I have ever coached.  He is that once in a lifetime QB that every coach dreams of….  Smart, Talented, Ultra Competitive, but most importantly HUMBLE!

Q. Talk about his impact on the community.

A. When you do what Michael did over four years, fourth all-time in the state passing yards and touchdowns, you become the face of Camp Hill.  The great thing about Michael is he is a three-sport athlete so what he does is year round in Camp Hill.  Specifically, talking football, the kids of the community love him and he sets a great example for them of what a first class student athlete looks like.  He always takes time for anyone who wants to talk to him and is very respectful to everyone.  Our program has benefited because of him.
