3photoMANHEIM – The second Annual Keystone State QB Showcase featured over 100 players at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

Spooky Nook Sports is the USA’s largest indoor sports complex.

Spooky Nook Sports, East Coast Elite Camps & Susquehanna Valley Sports Inc hosted a one-day camp last Saturday.

Some of the most talented quarterbacks in the state spent a day developing their skills. The camp showcased Pennsylvania players from grades sixth through twelfth. “Our goal is to invite all the top quarterbacks in Pennsylvania and have them compete, ” said Jim Cantafio.

Last year Cedar Cliff’s Andrew Ford won the honors as top senior quarterback. Andrew enrolled early and is currently at Virginia Tech.

Who’s this year’s top senior-to-be quarterback to come out of the Keystone State QB Showcase?

That answer is, Alex Hornibrook, Malvern Prep.

“This year I came out to compete,” said Hornibrook. “I have been training with these guys for many years. I had fun competing this year.”

In Alex’s junior year, he completed 67 of 129 passes for 1,190 yards and 12 touchdowns. He had two rushing touchdowns.

Alex has offers from Akron, Colgate, Connecticut, Lafayette, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Yale.Seniors

Last week he had a visit to Rutgers. “I’m going to see what plays out in the next couple of weeks.”

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound quarterback is a three-stat prospect according to 247sports.com and he is currently ranked the number 33 player in Pennsylvania and number 54 pro-style quarterback nationally.

One thing new at Malvern this year is their new head football coach Aaron Brady. Brady stepped down as head coach of Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.

About the camps

Campers received football skills training from former and current college players.

Jim Cantafio has over 30 years of head coaching experience. He knows the value of a properly trained, highly skilled quarterback. Through his instruction and guidance, Cantafio has seen many of his high school quarterbacks go on to play football at the next level, including Michigan All-American, 2007 Rose Bowl Quarterback and Jacksonville Jaguars Quarterback Chad Henne.

Coach Cantafio’s ability to develop winning quarterbacks has made him one of the most successful high school coaches on the East Coast. SVS Sports, the leader in East Coast football camps, is committed to helping develop teams and individual players to the next level of play.

Players from the Keystone State QB showcase will be picked for the East Coast Elite Quarterback – Receiver showcase in July. “Our camps started in December and go to July, ” said Cantafio. “We will be picking kids from today’s camp for the July showcase.”
