DREXEL HILL – Mark Dianno of the Maxwell Football Club, announced Thursday night that Keith Maguire, a senior from Malvern Prep, was recognized as the Maxwell Football Club Pennsylvania Player of the Year.

This took place at the Club’s 34th Annual Awards Dinner at Drexelbrook Country Club in Drexel Hill. In addition, the Maxwell Football Club honored 63 finalists with Mini-Max trophies.

The Mini-Max is awarded to the region’s top senior football players. The region is made up of players from District 1, 3, 11, 12 and Independent schools.

Keith is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound senior linebacker, wide receiver and running back for Malvern Prep who will continue playing football on a full scholarship to Clemson in the fall.

On offense he rushed for 313 yards. He caught 17 passes for 314 yards and scored 12 (7 receiving, 5 rushing) total touchdowns. He had four interceptions on defense. He returned two of them for a touchdown.

“Keith is an amazing athlete. We knew he would be a top performer week in and week out on the field,” said Head Football Coach Dave Gueriera.

He helped lead Malvern to a third straight Inter-Ac title and an undefeated season.

“His leadership is what stood out the most during this 11-0 season.  He led by both his actions and vocally.  Keith had a great knack for getting his teammates on the same page throughout the season. He has the utmost respect of everyone in the program, deservedly so!”

He was the Inter-Academic League MVP, EasternPAFootball.com Class 5A Co-Player of the year, and All-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection.

Off the field, Keith carries a 3.65 GPA at academically demanding Malvern Prep and has scored 1,180 on his SAT’s.

As for community service, Keith spent 10 days last summer in the Dominican Republic helping displaced Haitian families build homes, spending five days in a mountain region digging ditches to lay PVC pipe for families that never had clean running water.

His team finished 11-0.

The Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware Players of the Year will be the candidates for the Club’s Jim Henry Award as the Outstanding Player in the region.

The winner of the Jim Henry Award will be announced as part of the Maxwell Football Club’s National Awards Gala which will be held in March 8, 2019 at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. The Maxwell Football Club will also present its collegiate and professional awards at this event, but if you want to play in a Casino online, here’s some online gambling sites that are perfect for this.
