BARNESVILLE, PA (August 6) – Former athlete, teacher, coach, Eastern Football Conference, District 11 and PIAA State officer Jack Wabby is recognized for his lifetime service with today’s Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association Preseason Media Conference being held in his honor at Mountain Valley Golf Course.

A 1964 Saint Clair graduate, Wabby played football and baseball for the Saints as a four-year starter in both sports, being named All-Schuylkill County in football. At Kutztown State he played four years of football and one year of baseball for the Golden Bears and was recognized in football with both offensive and defensive team MVP awards, being named captain and as a first-team all-Pennsylvania State Conference defensive back.

Wabby continued his playing career with the semi-pro Schuylkill County Coal Crackers before beginning his coaching career with the Coal Crackers before moving on to the Chambersburg Cardinals and later the Scranton Miners. As a high school assistant coach, he was on the staff of the legendary Bill Wolff at both his alma mater and later at Danville High.

After serving as an assistant principal in the Williams Valley School District, Wabby became high school principal at Saint Clair before moving on to Blue Mountain. He served as president of the Schuylkill League and Eastern Conference, chairman of the District 11 Committee and as a member of the PIAA board of directors.

For his lifetime of service to athletics and academics, the Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association is pleased to recognize one of its own – Jack Wabby.
