For the tenth time in school history, the Berwick Bulldogs have been crowned Eastern Conference champions after their high scoring affair with Southern Lehigh, 57-46.

In the opening twenty-four minutes, Southern led 20-18 at intermission. As the Spartan band played their melodious tunes during halftime, Coach Gary Campbell of Berwick made adjustments and those adjustments paid off for the home standing Bulldogs.

Berwick scored 23-points in the third quarter highlighted by Matt Cashman’s 82-yard kickoff return. The two schools combined for 65-points in the second half.

The Dawgs have been led all season by their undersized running back Jeremy Freeman. Tonight, he eclipsed the 1,700 yard rushing mark after racing 27 times for 215 markers and 4 scores (11, 9, 18, 16). After a 1-3 start to the season, the Bulldogs completed their run with eight consecutive wins. Berwick came up short a year ago in the same game to Valley View. This year, they would not be denied as the borough of Berwick can celebrate their first Eastern Conference title since 1993.

Southern Lehigh finishes the season with a 7-5 mark.
