First fifteen week predictions go 56-14

Last week 5-0

The 2010 high school football season ends this week with four Super Bowls to determine Pennsylvania champion’s at all four high school division levels. Once again chocolate town turns to football town surrounded by a Christmas flavor at Hershey Park Stadium.

The matchup’s at all four class levels this week provide for interesting contrasts in style and skill. Will it be defense or offense, passing or ground attack that wins the day? The answer to this question will be known by Saturday night.

Last week this prognosticator hit a perfect 5-0 as LaSalle, North Allegheny, West Catholic, Allentown Central Catholic and Bishop McDevitt all won as projected.

The last four years, this future teller has a 213-76 prognostication record and a 2010 record of 56-14.

The AAAA championship game is a monster and will complete a great weekend of championship contests starting at 5 PM Saturday. LaSalle won a heart pounding 38-35 win over North Penn last Saturday afternoon to qualify for this title game. Explorer QB Matt Magarity led a fourth quarter drive that ended with a clutch TD pass to Sean Coleman with just over two minutes left to grab a three point comeback lead. North Penn began its final drive but was thwarted with a big time defensive interception to save the day for LaSalle. The Explorers will need an equally spirited effort this week as they face western champion North Allegheny a 35-17 winner over Cumberland Valley. Running back Matt Steinbeck led a 28 point second half surge that erased a 10-7 Cumberland Valley half time lead. This game will be very physical with the line play making all the difference.

Prediction: LaSalle 34 North Allegheny 28

The next game to watch is the AAA title game featuring Bishop McDevitt and Allentown Central Catholic. The Vikings pounded a very talented Archbishop Wood team 49-27 to win the east. Allentown CC just scores and scores and scores. The Vikings average 51 points per playoff game and will be very difficult to slow down. Bishop McDevitt needed a 21 point second half surge to squeak past Erie Cathedral Prep 24-21. If McDevitt finds themselves playing catch up this week it won’t be pretty.

Prediction: Allentown Central Catholic 41 Bishop McDevitt 27

Here is the rest of this week’s fearless championship forecast:

Prediction: West Catholic 36 South Fayette 31

Prediction: Clairton 30 Riverside 18
