Explosive Plays Lift Parkland Past Whitehall 53-7

WHITEHALL – Whitehall came into its showdown for first place in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference (EPC) Lehigh Division with neighborhood rival Parkland with various amounts of weapons on offense. The problem is, the Trojans came rolling into Zephyr Stadium with a full and varied arsenal on the ground.

The Trojans left no doubt with an overpowering rushing attack as they cruised past the Zephyrs 53-7 on Thursday night.

“They have a high-powered offense and with the short week, so I was a little worried because of what they do,” Parkland head coach Tim Moncman said. “I though our kids responded well by flying to the football and cause turnovers.”

Parkland (4-0, 9-0) needed just their first offensive play to set the tone when T.J. Lawrence raced 59 yards down the right sideline to give the Trojans a 6-0 lead just 1:58 into the game. Whitehall (3-1, 7-2) countered with a good-looking drive of their own as Jeziah Gregory scored on a 39-yard touchdown run that gave the Zephyrs their only lead of the game at 7-6 with 6:42 left in the first quarter.

Trojans quarterback Finn Coen picked up a pair of key conversions to fuel a 9-play 65-yard drive that gave Parkland the lead back at 12-7. Coen initially scrambled for a 19-yard gain on third-and-16 from their own 29-yard line before finding Blake Nassry for 20 yards on fourth-and-6 from the Whitehall 35-yard line. Lawrence capped the drive with his second touchdown in as many drives with a 15-yard scamper.

“Everything was right there for us tonight,” Lawrence said. “I credit our offensive line all night for making the blocks that we were able to get big gains on.”

Things began to further spiral out of control for the Zephyrs when quarterback Tanner Dogmantis fumbled inside the Whitehall 10-yard line. Three plays later, Coen found Nassry for an 8-yard touchdown pass on third-and-goal and for a successful two-point conversion that made it a 20-7 game with 33 seconds left in the first quarter.
The Zephyrs fumbled again on their next drive just inside Parkland territory and Lawrence made them pay two plays later with another long touchdown run, this time from 57 yards out, to extend the Trojans lead to 26-7.

“We had to shuffle things around a little bit with one of our tackles being out,” Moncman said. “Matt Dorsey jumped out to tackle and Lyan Dume has slotted in nicely a guard. It is a credit to these guys stepping up and stepping into the roles seamlessly to help us have success on the ground.”

Parkland already had 230 of their 308 rushing yards in the first half and Naquan Thomason jumped in on the action one drive later with a 74-yard run that set up his 9-yard touchdown run that gave the Trojans a 33-7 lead into halftime.

Lawrence capped off his big night with his fourth and final touchdown of the game on the Trojans opening drive of the second half that made it a 40-7 Parkland lead. He rushed for 147 yards on just 10 carries and averaged a whopping 14.7 yards per carry.

“There is still more to improve and more to get better as we get closer to playoffs,” Lawrence said. “I think with how good our defense played tonight gave us more juice on offense to dominate.”

The Trojans defense held the Zephyrs to just 111 yards of total offense and seven points after entering the game averaging 44.9 points per game. Parkland prevented Tanner Dogmantis to get the Whitehall offense in a groove as they have been for most of the 2025 season, limiting him to just 63 yards passing on 4-of-14 attempts and -1 rushing yard.

“I like our defense and I like how they have been playing,” Moncman said. “We do not blitz a ton but we get after it with our front four and they play and run to the football.”

Liam Spang helped that cause by forcing a fumble and blocking a punt, both of which set up touchdowns.

The Trojans have eyes on success in the postseason but first they get another local rival in Emmaus to close out the regular season next Friday in a rematch of last season’s District 11 6A title game. Whitehall will head to J. Birney Crum Stadium to close their regular season out with Allentown Central Catholic.
