District 11 Top Returning Players Week 6

DISTRICT 11 NOTES (week 6):   

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley had his 4th-200 yard rushing game of the season last week to up his District leading total to 1,356 yards. Achenbach also scored 4 td’s in the game and now has 16 td’s this season and 65 for his career. His 65 career td’s ties him for 23rd place all-time in the District with Juan Gaddy of Easton (1989-92) and Wyatt Clements of Lehighton (2012-15). With his 220 yards rushing last week Achenbach moves from 12th place to 9th place on the all-time District list for career rushing yards. He moved ahead of Gaddy (5,116 yards), Tosh Riddick of Dieruff (5,138 yards from 1995-97), and William Casella of Schuylkill Haven (5,214 yards from 2011-14). Matt Machalik of Palmerton scored 2 td’s last week to up his career total to 80. He is now in 9th place on the all-time District list as he moved ahead of Dylan Evans of Pen Argyl (79 td’s from 2008-11), and Nate Boyle of Tamaqua (79 td’s from 2016-19). Trey Tremba of Parkland scored 3 td’s last week to up his career total to 52. He is currently tied for 54th place on the all-time list with Jason Figura of Jim Thorpe who scored 52 td’s from 2001-04. Colm McGroaty of Mahanoy Area has 49 career td’s and is tied for 64th place with a host of former players. They are; Don Diorio of Pius X (1965-67), Josh Snyder of Northwestern (1995-97), Eric Fiore of BECA/Whitehall (2007-10), Jarel Elder of Parkland (2010-12), Justin St. Hill of Jim Thorpe (2014-17), and Trey Gretzinger of Palisades (2015-18). Next up, is Joey Flail of North Schuylkill, who has 46 career td’s. He is tied for 77th place all-time with 12 other players. They are; Jose Delgado of Central Catholic (1990-93), Brian Bender of Shenandoah Valley (1995-97), Billy Stocker of Wilson (1995-98), Eddie Mateo of BECA/Freedom (2006-09), Cole Barnhardt of Williams Valley (2010-13), Cam Richardson of Northwestern (2011-14), KJ Snerr of Marian Catholic (2012-15), Mitch Daniel of Notre Dame (2013-16), Mike Stasko of Palmerton (2013-16), Zach Petiet of Saucon Valley (2014-17), Dez Boykin of Whitehall (2015-17), and Jahan Worth of Parkland (2015-17). Luke Stevenosky of Minersville has 45 career td’s which moved him into the top 100. He’s tied for 100th place all-time with 9 other players. They are; Dave Paffenroth of Stroudsburg (1975-77), Chris Smith of Southern Lehigh (1994-96), Matt Thomas of Parkland (1995-97), CJ Billera of Emmaus (2006-08), Eric Whalen of Shenandoah Valley (2008-11), Owen Daniel of Williams Valley (2010-12), Ra’von Burton of Catasauqua (2010-13), Jared Colletti of Palisades (2014-17), and Tavion Banks of Bethlehem Catholic (2014-17). Let’s give some more former players a shout out, compliments of Dalton Clymer of Northwestern. Clymer has 44 career td’s and is tied with Jeff Zimmerman of Blue Mountain (1963-65), Tony Pitrowski of Nativity (1976-78), Jason Grow of Williams Valley (1987-90), Ron Koch of Schuylkill Haven (1992-94), Tom Williams of Central Catholic (1994-96), Luke Strauss of Southern Lehigh (2014-17, and Ron Clark of ES South. Clymer and John Haubert of Palisades each scored 4 td’s in week 6. Payton Fasnacht of Blue Mountain went over 2,000 yards rushing for his career (2,048 yards). Cade Sawyer of Southern Lehigh alo reached 2,000 career yards (2,035) in week 6 and also joined the “40 td” club with his 40 td’s. There are currently 6 players with over 900 career yards rushing yards looking to get on the chart.

QUARTERBACKS:

Danny Darno of Notre Dame now has 50 career td passes and Luke Spang of Parkland has 40 career td passes. Darno also went over 1,000 yards on the season (1,073). Spang joined the “4,000 yard” club and the “40 td” club in week 6. Spang has thrown for 4,122 yards in his career. Cole Lazorik of Jim Thorpe also went over 1,000 yards passing on the season. The sophomore now has 1,035 yards. Aiden Hess of Catasauqua was the only reported 200 yard passer in week 6. Hess threw for 219 yards for his 2nd-200 yard game this season. Machalik, Trey Dogmantis of Whitehall and Brad Rissmiller of Pen Argyl all broke their school career completion records. Garrett Perschy held the Palmerton record with 331 (2014-17). Chris Polony held the Whitehall record with 279 completions from 2008-10, and Nathan Hood held the Pen Argyl record with 245 completions in his career (2007-10).

RECEIVERS:

Nick Ryan of Shenandoah Valley became the 4th current receiver to have 2,000 career reception yards. Ryan has caught 111 passes for 2,042 yards in his career with 25 going for td’s. Trey Tremba of Parkland went over 1,000 career receiving yards last week and now has 1,006 yards.

Career reception District 11 rankings: Joey Flail (North Schuylkill) 144 catches (tied for 10th all-time) with Jeff McGeehin of Central Catholic (1973-75), and Jacob Del Priore of Southern Lehigh (2011-13). Jareel Calhoun (Central Catholic) 142 catches (13th all-time), Damian Tyminski (Pen Argyl) 141 catches (14th all-time).

Career reception yardage District 11 rankings: Flail 2,380 yards (10th best), Tyminski 2,273 yards (14th best). Ryan moves into 24th best with his 2,042 yards. Kuehner 2,040 yards (25th best).

Career reception td’s: Flail 37 (3rd best all-time). Ryan 25 (tied for 25th best ) with Zack Gillen of Wilson (2018-21) and Shane McEvoy of Lehighton (2005-07).
