DISTRICT 11 NOTES (week 4):

RUNNINGBACKS:

Five running backs are now over 500 yards rushing for the season.  District leader Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley leads the group with 572 yards.  Michael Pascoe of Panther Valley is next with 540 yards.  He’s followed by Cade Sawyer of Southern Lehigh (536 yards), Aiden Myers of Schuylkill Haven (510 yards) and Matt Machalik of Palmerton (507 yards).  Achenbach and Cade Christopher of Northwestern lead the District as both players have scored 10 td’s this season.  Christopher, Sawyer, and Nigel Linton of Whitehall all went over 1,000 yards rushing for their careers last week.  Christopher also has 1,079 career receiving yards.

QUARTERBACKS:

Machalik also tied the school record again with his 4 td passes.  Matt Falcone was the first Bomber to throw 4 td’s vs North Schuylkill in 2008.  Garrett Perschy threw 4 td’s vs Notre Dame in 2014 and against Pen Argyl in 2016.  Machalik leads the District with his 1,041 yards passing and 13 td passes and also went over 3,000 yards (3,013) and 30 td’s passes (31) in his career.  Sammy Sasso of Nazareth has the 2 highest total with 890 yards.  Sasso along with Isaac Whiteash of Williams Valley, Trey Dogmantis of Whitehall and Trevor Minalda of North Schuylkill have all thrown 9 td passes this season.  Minalda threw 4 td’s last week vs Tamaqua.  Jake Fotta of Emmaus threw 2 td passes and teammate Josiah Williams threw 4 td passes in their win over ES North.  Williams threw for 184 yards putting him over 2,000 yards for his career (2,089).  Williams also tied the school record for td passes in a game with 4.  Rollie Houseknecht was the first Green Hornet to throw 4 in a game way back in 1951 vs Whitehall.  Avery Koser of Southern Lehigh had a perfect night in their win over Palisades as he went 10 for 10 for 245 yards and 2 td’s while also rushing for 130 yards and 2 td’s.  Luke Thomas of Bethlehem Catholic threw for 243 yards and a td in their win over Liberty.
