RUNNINGBACKS:

Colton Reber of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 324 yards and 6 td’s in their come from behind win over Tri-Valley.  For the season, Reber moves up to second place with his 1,486 rushing yards, just 4 yards behind District leader Logan Troup of Pine Grove (1,490 yards).  He’s rushed for 5,891 yards in his career and moves up one spot on the District all-time list into 8th place.  Austin Scott of Parkland drops to 9th place (5,802 yards from 2000-02).  Reber raised his career touchdown total to 96 which moves him up 2 spots from 6th to 4th place on the all-time District career list.  Dropping a notch each are Matt Machalik of Palmerton (95 td’s from 2020-23), and Cody Remaly of Northern Lehigh (92 td’s from 2007-10).  We had 4 other players get their first 200 yard game of the season. Chris Ward of Pleasant Valley rushed for 202 yards and 4 td’s in their win over PM East moving him up to second place in the EPC in yardage (1,144) and into the EPC lead in td’s scored with 18.  Taking a look at PV rushing history, Ward became the 12th Bear and 10th senior to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.  Ironically, they’ve never had a junior rush for 1,000 yards in a season.  The other 2 seasons were Austin Borre in 2012 and 2013 as a freshman and sophomore.  Borre was injured during his junior season and ended with 762 yards that year.  The highest junior total at PV is 810 yards that Marlon Pitts had in 2002.  Jeziah Gregory of Whitehall rushed for 201 yards and 3 td’s in their 1 point win over Emmaus.  In the same game Jay Santos of Emmaus rushed for 200 yards and 3 td’s.  And finally, Ace Schickram of Tamaqua rushed for 200 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Panther Valley.  Adam Fritts of Southern Lehigh who didn’t have a rushing td this season scored 6 rushing td’s in their win over Notre Dame.  Fritts ties the school record for td’s in a game with 3 other players and is the first Spartan to score 6 rushing td’s in a game.  They are Jeremy Mack (5 rushing, 1 receiving) vs Palisades in 1997, Luke Strauss (4 rushing, 2 receiving) vs Catasauqua in 2017, and Sean Steckert (4 rushing, 2 receiving) vs Pottsville in 2024.  Fletcher Thompson of Williams Valley scored a td in their win over Marian Catholic before exiting the game in the 2nd quarter.  He is now in 36th place all-time in the District by himself with 63 career td’s.  There’s never been a player in District 11 finish their career scoring exactly 63 td’s.  There’s been at least 1 player end their career scoring 1 td through 70 td’s except for exactly 63.  There are 3 totals on that list (70, 67, 60) that only 1 player in the District ended their career with.  They are Niko Carestia of Schuylkill Haven with 70 career td’s from 2022-25, Dalton Clymer of Northwestern with 67 career td’s from 2020-23, and Mike Tracy of Marian Catholic with 60 career td’s from 1978-80.  Besides Ward going over 1,000 yards in week 8, Lashawn Johnson of Freedom (1,044 yards), and Christian Stiehler of PM West (1,004 yards) also went over 1,000 yards.  Junior Terrence McDowell of Tamaqua now has 30 career touchdowns.  Tycen Norman of Parkland scored 4 td’s in their win over Central Catholic.  Will Bacolo of Nazareth (1,099 career yards), and Treyvaughn Johnson of Central Catholic (1,021 career yards) earned a spot on the chart, and I also realized qb Tanner Dogmantis of Whitehall also belongs on the chart with his 1,349 career rushing yards.

QUARTERBACKS:

In the wild 52-49 Nazareth/Bethlehem Catholic game Cooper Madson of Nazareth threw for 334 yards and a td while Axel Burkart of Beca threw for 366 yards and 2 td’s and in the process each qb went over 2,000 yards passing for the season.  Burkart leads the District with 2,074 yards, and Madson is second with 2,029 yards.  Greyson Fuller of ES South also threw for over 300 yards in week 8.  Fuller threw for 303 yards and 5 td’s in their win over PM West.  His 5 td passes is one short of the school record.  Jake Cirillo threw 6 td passes in 2016 vs Allen and Will Fish threw 6 td passes vs Stroudsburg in 2020.  Cohen Kirby of Blue Mountain threw for 236 yards and 3 td’s in their win over North Schuylkill.  He’s thrown for 1,544 yards and 20 td’s this season.  His yardage is 3rd best all-time at the school as he moved ahead of Tyler Hartranft (1,413 yards in 2010), Shane Graspy (1,438 yards in 2013) and Brady Strause (1,489 yards in 2024).  Kirby’s 20 td’s is 1 short of the school record 21 that Hartranft threw in that 2010 season.  Kirby is currently tied with his dad Keith who threw 20 td’s in 1999.  Gregory Tirpak of Marian Catholic also threw for 236 yards in a week 8 loss to Williams Valley.  Sophomore Tommy Welsh of Pottsville threw for 213 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Pine Grove.  CeeJay Serfass of PM East threw for 204 yards in their loss to Pleasant Valley.  Colton Sams career passing yardage total of 8,133 yards moves him up 1 spot to 3rd place all-time in the District.  He moved ahead of Tyler Smith of Wilson (8,035 from 2006-09).  Sams threw 1 td pass in their win over Notre Dame and now has 25 on the season and 104 for his career moving within 2 of the all-time District 11 record 106 td passes that Brendan Nosovitch of Central Catholic threw from 2008-11.  Tommy Murphy of Notre Dame leads the District with his 28 td passes.  Tanner Dogmantis of Whitehall goes from 39th all-time in the District to 33rd all-time in passing yards with his 5,367 yards.  Dogmantis moved ahead of Logan Edmond of Southern Lehigh (5,242 yards from 2016-18), Zack Bradley of Catasauqua (5,267 yards from 2011-13), Travis Edmond of Southern Lehigh (5,281 yards from 2012-14), Cayden Stem of Wilson (5,326 yards from 2018-21), and Travis Stefanik of Nazareth (5,342 yards from 2014-16).  We had 3 more qb’s go over the 1,000 yards mark for the season in week 8.  They are TK Gursky of Palmerton (1,135), Finn Coen of Parkland (1,077 yards), and Julian Pagan of Allen (1,004).

RECEIVERS:

Shay Strencosky of Pottsville caught 4 passes for 128 yards vs Pine Grove and all 4 went for td’s.  The 4 td’s ties the school record that Mason Barnes set in 2018 vs Blue Mountain.  Strencosky leads the District with 12 td receptions.  Carter Vassa of Bethlehem Catholic caught 8 passes for 242 yards and a td while also rushing for 2 td’s vs Nazareth.  The 242 yards are the 2nd highest at BECA behind his own 259 yards he had vs Nazareth last year.  He leads the District with 938 receiving yards.  He raised his career totals to 174 receptions, 3,187 yards and 34 td catches.  He moves up a spot on the all-time District list to 2nd place for reception yardage.  Dez Boykin of Whitehall drops from 2nd to 3rd place with his 3,017 yards he had from 2015-17.  Vassa’s 174 career receptions moved him up from 10th place all-time in the District to 7th.  Dropping to 8th place is Joey Flail of North Schuylkill (173 catches from 2020-23), 9th place is Jareel Calhoun of Central Catholic (172 catches from 2021-23), 10th place is Damian Tyminski of Pen Argyl (170 catches from 2021-23).  And Vassa’s 34 career td receptions ties him with Jesse Engle of Williams Valley for 5th place all-time in the District.  In that Nazareth/BECA game Luke DePietro of Nazareth caught 12 passes for 139 yards and teammate Matt Leluga caught 4 passes for 159 yards and a td.  Zyaire Davis of Liberty joins the “100 catch” club with his 101 receptions and also went over 2,000 yards receiving for his career (2,020).  Jonathan Striba of Notre Dame also went over 2,000 yards receiving (2,003 yards) for his career.  Otto Young of Southern Lehigh caught 9 passes vs Notre Dame to raise his District leading reception total to 52.  DePietro has the 2nd highest total in receptions with 47 and yards with his 820.  Henry Shultz of Whitehall is in 3rd place for receptions and yardage (45 for 783 yards) and the junior also went over 1,000 yards for his career (1,003).  Behind Strencosky’s 12 td grabs there are 4 players with 10 each.  They are Drew Boyd of Notre Dame, David Burrous of Shenandoah Valley, Carter Vassa of Bethlehem Catholic and Chase Guers of Blue Mountain.  Guers also broke the school record with those 10 td receptions.  The old record was 9 set by Jeremy Miller in 1995 and tied by Bryce Hensley in 2020.  Joining the chart in week 8 were Alex Perez of ES South (597 yards), teammates from PM East Kevin Davis (578 yards), and Prince Albino (539 yards), and catching up with totals for Nyechay Lawless of Notre Dame who has 710 yards.
