District 11 Notes – Week 7

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Jalen Fletcher of Freedom rushed for 267 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Whitehall.  Fletcher leads the EPC South with 958 yards rushing and 14 td’s scored.  Fletcher also went over 1,000 yards rushing in his career (1,259 yards) and has scored 20 career td’s.  Aidan Myers of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 281 yards and 5 td’s in their win over Panther Valley.  Myers surpassed 1,000 yards on the season and currently has 1,012 yards rushing and 12 td’s.  District leader Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley rushed for 219 yards and 2 scores in their 22-21 win over Mahanoy Area.  Achenbach has 1,162 yards rushing and 18 td’s this season.  The junior joins the “40 td” club as he has scored exactly 40 career td’s to date.  In the same game Colm McGroaty of Mahanoy Area rushed for 246 yards and 3 scores.  McGroaty has rushed for 891 yards and scored 14 td’s this season.  The junior also went over 2,000 yards rushing in his career (2,276).  Michael Pascoe of Panther Valley also went over 2,000 yards rushing in his career (2,015).  Cade Christopher of Northwestern rushed for 206 yards and scored 4 td’s in their win over Pottsville.  Christopher has scored 17 td’s this season and sits 1 td behind District leader Achenbach.  Steven Lilly of Palisades scored 4 td’s in their win over Pen Argyl and is third in the District with 16 td’s scored.  Payton Fasnacht of Blue Mountain scored 4 td’s in their win over Wilson to double his season output.  Matt Machalik of Palmerton broke the school career rushing record that Chris Siracuse held.  Machalik has rushed for 2,713 career yards surpassing the 2,685 yards Siracuse racked up from 1996-98.  Machalik has scored 50 career td’s and has thrown 41 career td’s.  Junior Luke Stevenosky of Minersville joins the chart as he has rushed for 1,060 yards in his career.  Aidan Hutchison of Easton rushed for 200 yards and a td in their loss to Bethlehem Catholic and Cade Sawyer of Southern Lehigh rushed for 201 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Saucon Valley.

QUARTERBACKS:

Sonny Sasso of Nazareth and Danny Darno of Notre Dame each threw for over 200 yards for the 4th time tis season last week.  Sasso threw for 250 yards and a score in their win over Central Catholic and Darno threw for 235 yards and 3 td’s in their loss to Northern Lehigh.  Matt Machalik of Palmerton leads the District in passing yards (1,661) and td passes (23).  He also tied the school career td pass record with his 41 td passes.   Garrett Perschy threw 41 td’s from 2013-16.  Danny Darno of Notre Dame threw for 261 yards and 4 td’s in their win over North Schuylkill.  Sasso (1,491 yards) and Darno (1,439 yards) are second and third in the District this season behind Machalik and Darno went over 2,000 yards passing for his career (2,009).  Jake Fotta of Emmaus (1,148 yards), Trey Dogmantis of Whitehall (1,125 yards), Trevor Minalda of North Schuylkill (1,046 yards), Brad Rissmiller of Pen Argyl (1,046 yards), Isaac Whiteash of Williams Valley (1,033 yards), and Colby Mitchell of ES South (1,013 yards) all went over 1,000 yards passing for the season.  Fotta also tied the school record for career td passes with 25.  Ethan Parvel set the record when he threw 25 td passes in his only season at Emmaus in 2018.  Joseph Martinez of Easton threw for 207 yards and a td vs Bethlehem Catholic.

 

RECEIVERS:

Joey Flail of North Schuylkill became the first Spartan to catch 100 career passes.  Flail currently has 102 catches breaking the old record of 99 that Rich Zahodnick caught from 2014-16.  Flail, just a junior, has 1,510 career receiving yards.  Damian Tyminski of Pen Argyl broke his own single season school record when he caught his 44th pass last week.  Tyminski caught 43 passes last year to set the record.  The junior already owns the career record with 87 catches and is closing in on the career yardage record.  Nolan Lobb of Nazareth went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career (1,097).  He joins teammmate Mason Kuehner who has 1,253 career receiving yards.  Kuehner scored 4 td’s last week (3 rushing, 1 receiving) giving him 14 td’s on the season.  Sophomore Noah Dolbin of Nativity leads the District with 709 yards receiving and is followed by Brady Evans of Williams Valley with 657 yards.  Five players are tied with 8 td receptions.  They include the formentioned Dolbin, Evans, and Lobb along with Dan Lucykanish of Palmerton and Conner Dillon of Tamaqua.

 

STAT OF THE WEEK:

 

Back to the Emmaus career td pass record.  Etahn Parvel set the single season and career record in his only season at Emmaus in 2018 when he threw 25.  He also is tied for the single season td pass record at Whitehall where he threw 31 in 2017.  Zachary Gilbert also threw 31 td passes for Whitehall the season before Parvel in 2016.
