District 11 Notes – Week 12

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Caiden Schaffer of Central Catholic became the 21st player to rush for 1,000 yards this season in District 11.  Schaffer rushed for 154 yards and scored both td’s in their win over Bethlehem Catholic.  Schaffer rushed for 1,012 yards this season and has scored a team leading 19 td’s.  Northwestern’s tandem of Cade Christopher and Dalton Clymer continue to add to their season totals.  Christopher has rushed for an even 1,600 yards and scored a District leading 28 td’s.  Clymer has rushed for 1,294 yards and 18 td’s so far this season.  Both players went over 2,000 yards rushing in their win over Notre Dame.  Tri-Valley had 2 teammates rush for over 2,000 yards in their career ending with almost identical numbers.  Jake Scheib rushed for 2,244 yards and 34 td’s and teammate Kameron Wetzel rushed for 9 yards less (2,235) and the same td total (34).  Trey Tremba of Parkland upped his season rushing total to 1,123 yards after rushing for 121 yards in their win over Northampton.  Tremba scored 3 td’s in the game to up his season total to 23.  Matt Machalik of Palmerton ended his junior season rushing for 1,216 yards and 22 td’s.  Machalik will enter his senior season looking to add to his school record 3,206 yards rushing and 58 touchdowns scored.  Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley is still holding on to his District leading rushing total (1,744 yards).  The closest player still playing is Christopher with his 1,600 yards.  For the District lead in td’s scored Achenbach slides down one notch (27 td’s) to 2nd place behind Christopher’s 28.  Jalen Fletcher of Freedom follows with 25 td’s.  Nigel Linton of Whitehall went over 2,000 yards rushing in his career after he rushed for 90 yards and a td in their win over Southern Lehigh.  Linton has 1,245 yards on the season and 2,075 yards in his career.  Linton also caught 2 passes for 110 yards in the game with both going for td’s bringing his season td total to 22 and his career total to 38.   Cade Sawyer of Southern Lehigh finished his junior season rushing for 1,346 yards and 21 td’s.

QUARTERBACKS:

Trey Dogmantis of Whitehall threw for 275 yards and 5 td’s in their win over Southern Lehigh.  Dogmantis upped his season total to 1,775 yards passing and 21 td passes.  His 5 td passes tie the school record that Zachary Gilbert set in 2016 vs ES North.  Danny Darno of Notre Dame ends his junior season throwing for a District leading 2,669 yards and 33 td’s.  Darno also rushed for 1,180 yards and scored 18 td’s. He’ll enter his senior season throwing for 3,239 yards and 37 td passes.  Back to Matt Machalik of Palmerton.  He threw for 2,554 yards and 31 td’s this season and will enter his senior season with 4,526 passing yards and 49 td passes.  His career rushing and passing totals have him at 7,732 yards and 89 td’s.  Trevor Minalda of North Schuylkill has thrown for 1,820 yards and 26 td’s so far this season.  Jake Fotta of Emmaus ends his career throwing for a school single season record 2,098 yards.  Fotta threw 23 td passes which is the 2nd highest total at Emmaus behind the 25 Ethan Parvel threw in 2018.  Fotta’s career totals have him throwing for 3,337 yards and a school record 33 td passes.  Luke Spang of Parkland has thrown for 1,698 yards and 15 td passes this season and upped his career totals to 2,734 yards and 26 td’s.  Ethan Neidig of Freedom went over the 2,000-yard career mark and now has thrown for 2,024 career yards.  Christian Fye of Catasauqua hit the 2,000-yard career mark exactly and will enter the Thanksgiving day game with 2,000 yards passing and 19 career td passes.  Luke Thomas of Bethlehem Catholic ends his senior season throwing for 1,574 yards and 13 td’s.  Kole Miller of Tri-Valley threw for 1,435 yards and 10 td’s in his senior season.  Avery Koser of Southern Lehigh who didn’t play in the last 3 games threw for 1,169 yards and 14 td’s in his senior season.

RECEIVERS:

Joey Flail of North Schuylkill caught his 14th td pass this season to tie the school record.  Al Marquardt caught 14 td passes in 1999 and Tevin Murray caught 14 td passes in 2014.  Dylan Darville of Emmaus finished his senior season with school records of 58 receptions, 1,047 yards and 12 td catches.  For his career Darville caught 75 passes for 1,395 yards and a school record 17 td receptions.  Dan Lucykanish of Palmerton ended his senior season catching 53 passes for 893 yards and 11 td’s.  His 53 catches are 2nd best at Palmerton behind the 66 Steve Endres caught in 1989.  His 893 yards are also 2nd best behind Andres’s 906 yards in 1989.  And his 11 td’s ties Austin Cseh for the school record.  Cseh caught 11 td passes in 2008.  For his career he caught 93 passes for 1,517 yards and 15 td grabs.  Central Catholic sophomore Jareel Calhoun leads the District with 72 receptions.  He now has 100 career receptions.  Eric Wert of Bethlehem Catholic caught 7 passes vs Central Catholic to be the first Golden Hawk to catch 100 passes in their career.  Wert ends his career with a school record 104 receptions for 1,276 yards and 10 td’s.  Tight End Pete Donchez held the record when he caught 97 passes from 2001-03.  Teammate Jaiden Ellis-Lahey caught 71 career passes for 965 yards and 11 td’s.  Junior teammates Josh Ludlow and AJ Lozano of Notre Dame caught a combined 108 passes for 1,695 yards and 23 td’s this season.  Ludlow caught 65 for 925 yards and 9 td’s while Lozano caught 43 for 770 yards and 14 td’s.  Ludlow also rushed for 528 yards and 11 td’s to end the season scoring 20 td’s.  Lozano’s 14 td’s ties him with Flail for the District lead and has the 2nd highest total at Notre Dame behind David Sanders who caught 16 passes in 2018.  Ludlow, Lozano along with qb Darno are all juniors.

STAT OF THE WEEK:

Back to Joey Flail of North Schuylkill.  Flail has 31 career td catches and is tied with 3 other players for 7th place all-time in the District.  Tim Massaquoi of Parkland, Michigan and Tampa Bay Buccaneers caught 31 td passes on 114 catches good for 1,928 yards from 1998-2000.  Jake Wolfgang of Williams Valley caught 31 td passes on only 69 catches good for 1,795 yards from 2015-17.  And Nate Stefanik of Nazareth caught 31 td passes on 207 catches going for 2,738 yards from 2016-19.
