central_bucks_eastSo far this season Central Bucks East’s Brandon Ilkiw has set two school records. He now holds two single-game records, receiving yards and catches.

Against Boyertown week one, he caught six passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He broke the previous record held by Vince Careghini (2011) with 124 yards.

Last weekend against North Penn, Brandon set another school record catching 10 passes in the game. He broke that record which was held by Careghini (2011) and Dan McKelvey (2002) with 8 catches.

So far this season Brandon has caught 19 passes for 322 yards and two touchdowns. On defense he has 12 solo tackles, 16 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery and one blocked field goal. “He has done this in 3 1/2 games,” said head football coach John Donnelly.

Q&A with head football coach John Donnelly

Is he your go to receiver this year?

“He currently is, but I think our quarterback does a good job spreading the ball around.”

When he runs his routes is he more of an inside runner or a deep threat?

“He can do both. He is really good at controlling his body when the ball is in the air. He’s a big kid, 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. He runs the ball extremely well and runs precise routes. He is really good at the deep ball.”

How many years has he been a starter?

“This is year three. As a sophomore he wasn’t a full-time starter. But he did start some games for us.”

What kind of athlete is he?

“He has thrown three touchdowns on different reverse passes. He actually has completed 5 of 7 passes for 187 yards in his career. He is such a good athlete and a weapon in a lot of different ways.”
