DISTRICT 11 NOTES (week 8):

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Jaded Bowens of PM West went over 2,000 yards rushing for his career and now has 2,044 yards.  Conner Goehring of Schuylkill Haven also went over 2,000 yards rushing in his career.  The junior has totaled 2,042 rushing yards while scoring a total of 30 td’s.  Sophomore qb Matt Machalik of Palmerton rushed for 242 yards and scored 3 td’s in their win over Mahanoy Area.  Machalik went over 1,000 yards rushing on the season (1,028 yards) and leads the District with 22 td’s scored.  Deante’ Crawford of Freedom scored twice in their win over Pleasant Valley and is 2nd in the District with 18 touchdowns.  Crawford is tied with former Patriot Dave Walters for 5th place all-time for td’s scored in a single season at Freedom.  In 1999 Walters broke Mike Lawrence’s record of 16 td’s that he set in 1983.  Josh Chowansky of North Schuylkill became the first Spartan player to rush for 3,000 yards in his career.  Chowansky broke Jaden Leiby’s career school record of 2,993 yards that he rushed for from 2016-19.  Chowansky leads the District in rushing with 1,320 yards.  Eric Striba of Bangor rushed for 177 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Wilson to go over 1,000 yards rushing on the season.  The junior has rushed for 1,016 yards and scored 14 td’s.  Teammate Kael Godshalk has rushed for 777 yards this season and has scored a team leading 15 td’s.  Matt Frame of Northern Lehigh rushed for 155 yards and scored 5 td’s in their win over Pen Argyl.  Frame now has 31 career td’s.  Deante’ Crawford of Freedom has scored 18 td’s this season and 30 for his career.  Justin Holmes of Northwestern is creeping up on 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards passing.  He currently has 967 yards rushing and 905 yards passing.  He’s scored 17 td’s and thrown for 11 td’s this season.  Holmes needs 1 more td pass to join a small list of players to score 40 td’s and throw for 30 td’s in their career.

 

QUARTERBACKS:

John Adams of Minersville threw for 305 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Schuylkill Haven.  Adams leads the District with his 1,981 yards passing.  His 21 td passes ties him with Collin Quintano of Notre Dame for 2nd place in the District.  Jake Hall of North Schuylkill threw for 257 yards and 5 td’s against Salisbury.  Hall has thrown for 1,753 yards and a District leading 23 td passes this season.  Hall’s totals are both 3rd best at North Schuylkill for a single season.  Dante Mahaffey of Saucon Valley and Jovan Rodriguez of Dieruff both went over 1,000 yards passing.  Mahaffey has 1,001 yards and Rodriguez has 1,109 yards.  Cooper King of Northampton and Danny Darno of Notre Dame each threw for over 200 yards last week.  King threw for 201 yards and Darno threw for 211 yards.  Sophomore Brady O’Connell of Lehighton had his 2nd 200 yard game last week when he threw for 221 yards in their loss to Saucon Valley.

 

RECEIVERS:

Tyler Csencsits of Saucon Valley broke Nate Harka’s career reception yardage school record.  Csencsits has 1,332 yards receiving and Harka had a career total of 1,302 yards from 2013-15.  Trevor Amorim of Northern Lehigh broke Duke Lilly’s career school receiving yardage record.  Amorim now has 1,471 yards on 77 catches while Lilly had 1,443 yards on 73 catches from 1966-68.  Lilly still holds the career record at Northern Lehigh for td receptions with his 21.  North Schuylkill’s Joey Flail caught 4 passes for 44 yards and a td last week.  Flail is now tied for District lead for receptions (44) with Joey Vevasis of Shenandoah Valley, who was idol last week.  Flail is also the District leader with his 754 yards receiving and 10 td catches.  Jason Cullen of Minersville, a senior first time player caught 9 passes for 330 yards and 5 td’s in their last 2 games.  Teammate Brock Polinsky went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career and the junior now has 1,051 yards.  Jose Almonte of ES South also compiled big totals in his last 2 games.  Almonte caught 8 passes for 269 yards and 4 td’s.
