Offensive Player of the Week

Marqui Adams – Neumann-Goretti – Sr. – QB

Adams led the Saints offense in what was their most complete game of the season to date. Against a solid Friars’ defense, Adams and Co. rolled to 420 yards of offense. With under a minute to play in the third quarter, Adams whipped a 39-yard scoring pass to Ahmir Batts to break a 20-to-20 tie. All total, the strong-armed and poised Adams passed 14-for-26, for 213 yards and two scores. He also rushed 6 times for 33 yards. Three times in the fourth quarter he took off on 3rd down to pick up first downs that helped the Saints keep Bonner-Prendie’s offense off the field.

Defensive Player of the Week

Abdul Carter – LaSalle College HS – Sr. – LB

The Penn St. recruit was simply magnificent in helping the Explorers knock off archrival St. Joe’s Prep, 28-21, in a game played at Franklin Field. The victory snapped a Hawks winning streak in league play of 33 games. It was the first time the Explorers knocked of the Hawks since the PCL Red Final in 2015; a span of 9 games. Carter was everywhere collecting 20 total tackles in the contest, including 15 solo stops. Seven of his tackles came in the fourth quarter and all were of the solo variety. Included in this was a 14-yard sack to begin the Hawks’ final possession which put them in a hole inside their ten-yard line. A hole they would never recover from.

Special Teams Player of the Week

John Westfield – Father Judge – Sr. – K/P

Whenever teams are evenly matched it’s always possible that special teams could play a role in the outcome. In Judge’s hard fought 16-14 victory over Penn Charter this was certainly the case. Westfield belted an early 21-yard field goal, which in the end proved to be significant in the Crusaders’ narrow two-point win. Westfield was solid punting and contributed four such boots for a 34.8-yard average. Westfield has been consistent for Judge all season making 24-of-25 PATs and notching a pair of field goals.
