District 1 Talk Week 6

Interboro

Senior Joe Pfaff made the plays down the stretch, sacking Academy Park quarterback and breaking up a pass on their final drive. Interboro won 23-6.

Pfaff finished the game with 119 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns. The Bucs had 229 yards on 52 carries.

Interboro (6-0) hosts Penn Wood.

Council Rock South

Running back Greg Welch’s one-yard score in overtime gave Council Rock South a thrilling win over Abington 41-38.

Council Rock South had 256 yards of total offense and 14 first downs.

Keith Hickey had 107 yards and one touchdown and Greg Welch had 80 yards and three scores.

Council Rock South (5-1) hosts Neshaminy (5-1).

Downingtown West

In a battle of unbeatens, the Whippets quarterback Bret Gillespie and running back Kessan Christopher led the way in a 14-10 win over West Chester Henderson.

Gillespie and Christopher combined for 134 yards rushing. Gillespie one-yard score with 8 minutes and 19 seconds in the third quarter was the difference in the game.

Gillespie completed 3 of 11 passes for 116 yards and he rushed for 60 yards on seven carries. Christopher had 74 yards rushing on 18 attempts.

Downingtown West (6-0) hosts Avon Grove.

Marple-Newtown

Last season Marple-Newtown lost 36-0 to Strath Haven. This year was different and the Tigers won 14-7 over Strath Haven.

Running back Ryan White had a 92-yard kickoff return for a score. Ryan Duffy’s one yard score in the third quarter was the difference in the game.

Marple-Newtown (5-1) hosts Garnet Valley (5-1).
