Player Name: Danny Drewes, Dunmore

Starting experience: He has been a starter on the offensive line for four years. The last two years he has started at defensive tackle and played a little his freshman year. He will start this year on defense.

Honors: LFC Division II Defensive Player of the Year; First Team offensive line; First Team defensive line

 

Coaches Q&A with Jack Henzes:

Q. What are his strengths at offensive lineman?

A. He has good footwork, is very smart and makes our offensive calls on the line. He’s a punishing blocker. He’s a very good pass blocker and is very quick.

He’s very athletic and can move for his size.

Note: Danny has started 39 consecutive games since his freshman year. If he plays all the games his senior year, he will start the most games on the offensive line in Dunmore history.

 

Q. What are his strengths on defense?

A. He’s very good at getting off blocks and getting at the player. He’s very quick and has a good first step burst.

He’s a very good run stopper.

 

Q. What’s he doing in the offseason?

A. He’s working hard in the weight room to get bigger and stronger. He’s working at speed and agility camps.

 

Q. Final thoughts on Danny?

A. Danny just like his brother is a great kid. He comes from a great family, a great football family. Their older brother played linebacker for us and he’s one of the best linebackers we have had here in Dunmore and he went to the University of Buffalo.
