ROSLYN. PA   December 10, 2008

Maxwell Football Club President, Ron Jaworski, announced the fifty players to be honored as Mini Max Award Winners as selected by the Club’s High School Advisory Committee. The Mini Max Award is presented to football players in the Greater Philadelphia region who exhibit excellent academics, outstanding football performance and a strong commitment to community service.

The Maxwell Club will select one player from this group of fifty to receive the Club’s prestigious Jim Henry Award as the regional Player of the Year. Past Jim Henry Award winners include current Carolina Panther linebacker Dan Connor (Strath Haven H.S., Penn State), Pat Devlin (Downingtown East H.S., Penn State), Ryan Greiser (Pennridge H.S., Liberty University), Dan Persa (Bethlehem Liberty H.S., Northwestern) and Steven Rizzo (Audubon H.S., Colgate). The Maxwell Football Club has presented the Jim Henry Award since 1984 and has honored high school football players in the Philadelphia area since 1937. The winner of this year’s Jim Henry Award will be announced at the Maxwell Club’s High School Awards Dinner which will be held on January 15, 2009 at Drexelbrook Caterers in Drexel Hill Pennsylvania.

Jaworski offered the following thoughts on this year’s group of honorees. “Each year I am amazed at the quality of our winners and it seems that each year the bar is set higher for the new candidates. The student-athletes represented in this group are leaders on the field, in their schools and in the community in general. I know our selection committee faces tough choices during the evaluation process and I commend them on the choice of these outstanding young men.”

Tickets for the Maxwell Football Club High School Awards dinner can be purchased on the Club’s website www.maxwellfootballclub.org. The awards dinner is open to the public.
