Wyomissing Returns Veteran Front and Proven Playmakers for 2026 Class 3A Run

Wyomissing Area enters the 2026 season with its usual championship expectations, but this year’s Spartans will have a slightly different look.

Head coach Bob Wolfrum returns a veteran offensive line, an experienced quarterback, proven receiving options and several impact defenders from a team that finished 10-2 last fall and reached the District 3 Class 4A semifinals.

Now competing in Class 3A, Wyomissing brings back enough experience in the trenches and at key skill positions to once again be considered one of District 3’s top contenders.

The biggest questions will come in the backfield and secondary, where graduation claimed several accomplished starters.

Still, this is a program accustomed to replacing talent without lowering expectations.

Another 10-Win Season in 2025

Wyomissing opened the 2025 season with an impressive 49-27 victory over Southern Columbia and followed with close wins against The Haverford School and Academy of the New Church.

The Spartans then dominated the early portion of Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 4 play, defeating Northern Lebanon, ELCO, Donegal and Daniel Boone.

Their first loss came against Twin Valley, but Wyomissing responded with victories over Octorara and Lampeter-Strasburg before entering the District 3 playoffs.

The Spartans defeated Lampeter-Strasburg again, 23-6, in the quarterfinals before their season ended in a dramatic 37-35 semifinal loss at Susquehanna Township.

That experience should provide additional motivation for a veteran core entering 2026.

Offensive Line Goes From Question Mark to Strength

A year ago, one of Wyomissing’s biggest concerns was rebuilding nearly the entire offensive line.

Now it may be one of the team’s greatest strengths.

Senior Christian Kauffman, senior Robert Martino and senior Malacai Bosch all return as established starters.

Kauffman gives the Spartans an imposing presence at 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds. Martino returns at center, while Bosch adds another experienced tackle at 5-foot-10 and 260 pounds.

Wyomissing also brings back senior Khaliel Rivera and senior Alberto Rivera, who both gained starting experience last year while filling in because of injuries.

That gives the Spartans five linemen with meaningful varsity experience.

“Twelve months ago, we had to build an entirely new offensive line from scratch,” the coaching staff said. “What a difference a year makes.”

That experience should allow Wyomissing to establish its physical offensive identity from the opening week.

Eisenhower Returns at Quarterback

Junior quarterback Brady Eisenhower returns after gaining valuable varsity experience in 2025.

Eisenhower completed 35 of 60 passes for 550 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 119 rushing yards and another score.

His touchdown production was impressive considering the limited number of passing attempts.

More importantly, Eisenhower enters the season with his primary receiving options back.

That continuity gives Wyomissing the opportunity to expand its passing attack while maintaining the powerful running game that has long defined the program.

Passing Game Has Established Chemistry

Senior receiver Andrew DiFabrizio returns after catching seven passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns.

He averaged more than 30 yards per reception, giving the Spartans an explosive downfield threat.

Senior tight end Diamante Strong also returns after catching five passes for 80 yards.

Strong’s impact goes well beyond the receiving statistics. His physical blocking ability allows Wyomissing to use him as a key part of its running attack while still presenting a threat in the passing game.

With Eisenhower, DiFabrizio and Strong all returning, Wyomissing should have timing and chemistry that many teams spend the early weeks of the season trying to develop.

“Our passing network is completely locked in,” the coaching staff said. “Our starting quarterback, wide receivers and tight ends all return.”

Westwood Expected to Power the Running Game

Wyomissing must replace significant production in the backfield.

Danny Fleischood, Chase Eisenhower, Tyler Niedrowski, Marcus Armistead, Dom Argueles and Wayne Reason are all gone.

Senior Zander Westwood is expected to become a major part of the solution.

Westwood carried 26 times for 230 yards and two touchdowns last season and added one receiving touchdown.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, he gives the Spartans a powerful downhill runner who can punish defenders between the tackles.

The coaching staff believes he is ready for a much larger workload.

“When we keep the ball on the ground, expect big things from Zander Westwood,” the staff said. “He is an absolute hammer with unmatched explosiveness and a physical running style.”

Behind an experienced offensive line, Westwood could emerge as one of District 3’s breakout runners.

Balance Could Make Offense Dangerous

Wyomissing has traditionally built its success around running the football, controlling possession and wearing down defenses.

That philosophy isn’t going anywhere.

But the combination of an experienced quarterback and veteran pass catchers gives the Spartans more flexibility.

Defenses that load the box to slow Westwood and the running game could leave DiFabrizio and Strong in favorable matchups.

If Eisenhower continues to develop, Wyomissing could become significantly more balanced than previous editions.

Front Seven Leads Defensive Identity

The defense returns five starters, with much of that experience concentrated in the front seven.

Kauffman and Martino return along the defensive line, while Strong and Westwood give the linebacking corps two proven playmakers.

That experience should allow Wyomissing to remain aggressive while younger defensive backs settle into larger roles.

“Our defensive identity starts right now with our five returning starters,” the coaching staff said.

The front seven is expected to become the early strength of the defense.

Westwood Leads Returning Tacklers

Westwood finished as Wyomissing’s third-leading tackler last season with 52 tackles.

He also recorded five tackles for loss, one interception and one fumble recovery.

His size and athleticism allow him to make plays from sideline to sideline while also taking on blockers near the line of scrimmage.

Westwood will be asked to become one of the leaders of the defense while handling increased offensive responsibilities.

Few players on the roster will have a larger impact in all three phases.

Strong Brings Big-Play Ability on Defense

Strong returns at outside linebacker after recording 30 tackles, four sacks, three tackles for loss, one interception and three fumble recoveries.

His ability to pressure quarterbacks and create turnovers makes him one of the defense’s most disruptive players.

Strong can set the edge against the run, rush the passer and contribute in coverage.

That versatility gives defensive coordinator Dave Outland flexibility when designing weekly game plans.

Martino and Kauffman Anchor the Line

Martino recorded 28 tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss last season.

Kauffman added 17 tackles and two tackles for loss.

Together, they give Wyomissing a veteran defensive front capable of occupying blockers and allowing the linebackers to attack.

Kauffman’s size makes him difficult to move, while Martino brings experience and toughness in the middle.

The Spartans will need new players to join the rotation, but having two proven starters provides stability.

Secondary Faces Biggest Rebuild

The most significant defensive concern is the secondary.

Wyomissing graduated three of four starters from last year’s defensive backfield.

DiFabrizio returns as the most experienced member of the unit.

His football intelligence gives him the versatility to line up at any of the four defensive back positions.

“Andrew’s versatility comes directly from his deep knowledge of the game,” the coaching staff said.

That flexibility should help the Spartans while they identify the best combination around him.

Coleman Ready for Larger Role

Jacir Coleman could be one of the players ready to step into a bigger role.

Coleman recorded 18 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble last season.

His interception was returned for a touchdown.

Those statistics show his ability to create game-changing plays even in limited opportunities.

Training camp should feature intense competition for the open defensive back positions.

Special Teams Undergo Major Transition

One of Wyomissing’s biggest losses is multi-year kicker and punter Keegan Maher, who is now playing at Millersville.

Maher handled virtually every kicking responsibility last season.

Replacing that production will be a major priority.

The Spartans are optimistic about Alan Best, who has put in extensive work throughout the offseason and is expected to take on a significant specialist role.

The return of Westwood provides another major advantage.

Westwood earned All-State honors as a long snapper, giving Wyomissing valuable stability in an often-overlooked part of the kicking operation.

Tough Schedule Will Test Spartans Early

Wyomissing will not have much time to ease into the season.

After scrimmaging Cocalico, the Spartans open at Southern Columbia before traveling to Frankford and hosting Twin Valley.

The Twin Valley game will provide an immediate measuring stick after last year’s 28-6 loss.

League play then features Northern Lebanon, ELCO, Donegal, Daniel Boone, Conrad Weiser, Octorara and Lampeter-Strasburg.

That schedule should prepare Wyomissing well for another postseason run.

Players to Watch

Brady Eisenhower, Jr., QB: Returning starter who threw 13 touchdown passes on only 60 attempts last season.

Zander Westwood, Sr., RB/LB/LS: Three-phase standout who recorded 52 tackles and is expected to become a major part of the rushing attack.

Andrew DiFabrizio, Sr., WR/DB: Big-play receiver and versatile defensive back capable of playing anywhere in the secondary.

Diamante Strong, Sr., TE/OLB: Physical two-way standout who recorded four sacks and three fumble recoveries.

Christian Kauffman, Sr., OT/DE: Massive two-way lineman who anchors both fronts.

Robert Martino, Sr., C/NG: Experienced center and defensive lineman who provides leadership in the trenches.

Malacai Bosch, Sr., OT: Returning starter who helps make the offensive line one of the team’s strengths.

Khaliel Rivera, Sr., OG/DT: Veteran lineman who gained important starting experience last season.

Alberto Rivera, Sr., OG/LB: Returning contributor who provides experience and versatility.

Jacir Coleman, DB: Emerging defensive back who produced an interception return touchdown last year.

My thoughts on Wyomissing Area:

Wyomissing enters the 2026 season with a roster built around experience where it matters most.

The Spartans return their quarterback, three established offensive linemen, experienced receivers and several impact players in the defensive front seven.

The biggest offensive challenge will be replacing a large amount of production in the backfield, but Westwood appears ready to take on a significant role.

Defensively, the front seven should be a strength from the opening week. The development of the secondary will likely determine how quickly the unit becomes championship caliber.

Special teams must also adjust after Maher’s graduation, although the return of an All-State long snapper provides valuable continuity.

Now competing in Class 3A, Wyomissing should once again be firmly in the District 3 championship conversation.

If the new running backs emerge, the secondary develops and the experienced offensive line performs to expectations, the Spartans have the pieces to contend for a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 4 title and make another deep postseason run.

2026 Offensive Outlook: Twelve months ago, we had to build an entirely new offensive line from scratch. What a difference a year makes. This fall, we return three established starters alongside two veteran linemen who logged critical starting reps last season. Having five guys upfront with varsity experience gives us a massive boost of confidence right out of the gate.

While we have big shoes to fill after losing some great players in the backfield, our passing network is completely locked in. Our starting quarterback, wide receivers, and tight ends all return, bringing invaluable chemistry and timing to our passing game. When we keep the ball on the ground, expect big things from Zander Westwood—he is an absolute hammer with unmatched explosiveness and a physical running style. Backed by an experienced front line and a proven passing game, this offense has all the pieces for a productive season, provided we commit to our high standards and put the work in every day.

2026 Defensive Outlook: Our defensive identity starts right now with our five returning starters. Up front, we are locked and loaded with two battle-tested defensive linemen and two veteran linebackers flying around the second level. Having that much varsity experience back in our front seven means we expect this group to be a definitive strength and lead our defense early on while our new starters get used to the speed of varsity football.

There is no secret that our secondary took a hit after losing three out of four starters from last year’s squad. However, we return a massive weapon to lead that group in Andrew DiFabrizio. Andrew’s versatility comes directly from his deep knowledge of the game, giving him the unique ability to step in and play all four defensive back positions at a high level. For our remaining defensive backs and all the guys competing to fill those other open spots across the board, the message is clear: training camp is going to be an all-out competition to see who earns the right to start.

2026 Special Teams Outlook: Our special teams unit underwent a major transition following the graduation of multi-year starter Keegan Maher, who is now kicking at Millersville. Keegan was incredibly valuable, handling all three phases of our kicking game last season. However, Alan has been working tirelessly throughout the offseason, and we anticipate a big production year from him this fall. It also provides a massive boost to our specialists to have an All-State snapper like Zander Westwood returning to anchor the unit.
