After more than a decade leading the Gettysburg Warriors, Matt Heiser is headed to Manheim Central. According to Athletic Director Scott Govern, The Superintendent and school board met and agreed to recommend him. Heiser will be offically approved in August by the school board to be the Barons next Head Football Coach.
Heiser tenure at Gettysburg spanned 14 seasons and helped establish a culture of consistency, toughness, and player development. Heiser led the Warriors to a 76-67 record.
Heiser leaves Gettysburg as one of the most respected coaches in District 3, guiding the Warriors through nine winning seasons while mentoring countless student-athletes on and off the field. His leadership extended far beyond Friday nights, earning praise for building relationships, emphasizing academics, and creating a family atmosphere within the program.
The transition to Manheim Central presents a new challenge and a significant opportunity.
The Barons are among Pennsylvania’s most tradition-rich football programs, boasting multiple state championship appearances and a reputation as one of Lancaster-Lebanon League’s perennial contenders. The program has produced numerous standout players and coaches, including former NFL head coach Matt Nagy, and carries championship expectations every season.
As offseason workouts continue, all eyes will be on Manheim Central as Heiser begins implementing his system and preparing the Barons for the 2026 season.
