Bethlehem Catholic High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Tyler Ward as head football coach. Ward, a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, began his passion for football at an early age at The University of Virginia football games. This passion led him to Lehigh University, where he was a 2014 graduate, team captain, and All-Patriot League performer while winning Patriot League Championships in 2010 & 2011.

He began his coaching career at Franklin and Marshall College under the direction of John Troxell, the current head coach of Lafayette. He then returned to the Lehigh Valley to coach at his alma mater from 2016-19. Ward then transitioned to high school football, where he could have a much more significant impact on student-athlete development. He spent two (2) years in Savannah, Georgia, at Savannah Country Day School, where he was able to help lead them to their first region championship in forty years as an offensive coordinator.

After two (2) seasons in Savannah, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he became the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Oak Mountain High School. His staff led Oak Mountain to the second round of the 7A Alabama playoffs for only the second time in school history.

According to Bethlehem Catholic athletic director Chris Domyan, “Bethlehem Catholic is extremely excited about Ty Ward joining our community and leading our football program. He returns to the valley after coaching at the highest level (7A) of Alabama high school football. He has coached and developed some of the country’s most elite student-athletes resulting in scholarships for all levels of college football. We believe that he will be incredibly successful in his tenure at Becahi mostly evidenced by his desire and a strong commitment to join the Becahi family. He exemplifies Christian values and will lead our young men on the field, as well as in the classroom, and most importantly, in life.”

Ward is returning to the valley with his wife, who is a native of Bethlehem.
