NTL Week 4 Recap and Predictions

 Well, yet again I was one game away from an unblemished week of picks. Sayre really surprised the area, including this reporter, by running all over South Williamsport to a 28-0 win. Overall I was 5-1 on my picks and was fairly close on most scores. I look to dissect another week of football and show what went down this past weekend.

 Towanda 23 vs North Penn 9

 This looked to be about right. Towanda survived a scare from the feisty Panthers on their muddy and rainy turf Friday night. The evening seemed to be the perfect time for an upset by having Towanda drive an hour West on 6 and play off their turf. North Penn played tough early, but just too much Towanda in the end. If you really want to give someone a win, chalk one up for the Towanda D. If it wasn’t for Sky Stiner running the ball, North Penn would have been going backwards.

 Sayre 28 vs SW 0

 This was an impressive win for Sayre. This W really shows that they are for real this year and can play with some of the teams in the area. Sayre had just a devastating ground attack which helped in the wet and muddy conditions. You can’t ask for much more if you’re a ‘Skins fan from Friday. Don’t look now but Sayre is 3-1!

 In other Games:

 Lewisburg 35 vs Muncy 0  

That is expected. Too much Merle.

 Troy 26 vs Wyalusing 0

 Troy gets back on track. Now we must see if they can do it for 2 weeks in a row!

 Week 5 Predictions

 North Penn vs Sayre

 Sayre is 3-1 and riding high from a big win last week. North Penn is fuming after another loss to Towanda. Any other weekend this would be closer, but I would not want to be Sayre this weekend.

North Penn 40 vs Sayre 14 

Athens vs Hughesville

 Athens has slowly beaten down the minors of the NTL and reached a record of 4-0. This week they play a weaker then usual Hughesville team. This could turn into a laugher.

Athens 33 vs Hughesville 6

 

 Canton vs Wyalusing

 Wyalusing was embarrassed last week by Troy. I still have Canton winning the NTL small school this season. Pepper will throw all over Wyalusing and that 6-2 Canton D will stuff the Rams.

Canton 20 vs Wyalusing 0

 

 South vs Wellsboro

 To be honest, I don’t know what will happen with these two teams this week. I still have faith in South and in Wellsboro QB Ben Shaw. I’ll flip a coin. It’s heads.

South Williamsport 26 vs Wellsboro 25

 

Cowanesque vs Towanda

 Unless there is a major, major, mental lapse from the North Penn win last week, the JV should get plenty of playing time in this one.
