After 34 seasons as head football coach at Manheim Central, Legendary Head Coach Mike Williams retired in 2014. Who would take over as Head Coach? Longtime assistant of 20 years Dave Hahn. In his first year as head coach his team went 10-3 and the past four years his record is 48-7.

In his fourth season, the Barons advanced to the state finals for the fourth time in school history. In 2003 Manheim Central won the PIAA Class 3A State title defeating Pine-Richland, 39-38 in overtime.

In the 2018 state finals, Manheim Central fought to the end but fell short in the PIAA Class 5A game.

Q. What stood out about your team this season?

Their focus and resiliency. They were able to handle many different weather situations throughout the year whether it was practice or games and remained focused. They had a goal in mind and each and every week worked as hard as they could to achieve it.

Q. What makes your staff great and how have they helped you throughout the season?

I think the big word that comes to mind about our staff is TRUST.  I could count on each and every guy on our staff every day, they are dedicated to our team, this program and the Manheim community.  They wanted to, and did, represent it well.  I can’t thank them enough for working with me and sacrificing so much so our team could be successful.

Q. How did your team impact your community this year?

Our slogan this year was “One Town, One Team, One Dream”. The community has had just as much impact on our team as we may have had on our town. Manheim is unique. I think our community rallies around all of our teams and events.  The community recognizes what these students put into school and athletics (plus other activities).  They appreciate their effort and reward it by showing their unwavering support.  Friday night football is not just a game here. It is an event that includes a number of different organizations that come together in support of each other. It’s special.
