northeasternHead Coach Jon Scepanski Q&A

Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?

A. This season our offensive looks will be on our returning starter at quarterback, Marcus Josey.  He set the school passing record as a sophomore and looks to continue his success as a Junior.

Joining him in the backfield will be Kody Reeser (JR), Chris Whack (SO), Michael Cooper (SO).  All of them are returning starters as well.

David Ankney (Jr) will be returning at wide receiver for his second year of starting in our program as well.

Upfront on the offensive line we return Peyton Wolgamuth (SR) who is a three-year starter for us.  He is joined by two-year starter Jordan Farmer (SR) and Tate Lau (JR) and several other competing for a job.

Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense?

 A. This year we have a new defensive coordinator, Jeff Mesich.  He has been promoted from our assistant offensive coordinator to our 2014 defensive coordinator.  He will be running several versions of the 3-4 defense.

Players returning for our defense are Kody Reeser at middle linebacker who had a team high 99 tackles and earned first team YAIAA D2 Linebacker as a sophomore.

Peyton Wolgamuth DE (Sr), Houston Hoffman, DB (SR) and Garry Gobernick LB (Jr) are players to watch.

Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?

A. We have a new Offensive line and Special Teams coach Garry Morrison joining our staff from Franklin and Marshall College this year.  Coach Morrison looks to be creative and put our players in the best position to be successful.

All jobs are open as of right now on our special teams.

Head Coach: Jon Scepanski (entering 2nd season)

2013 Record: 1-9

2014 Schedule

Offensive Starters Returning: (3)

QB #6 Marcus Josey will be a junior. 1,309 passing yards, 10 Td’s.  309 yards rushing, 2 TD’s.  All stats are from his 2013 sophomore year.

WR #83 David Ankney will be a junior.  15 catches 297 yards Avg of 19.8 per catch and 4 TD’s.  All stats are from his 2013 sophomore year.

G #72 Peyton Wolgamuth will be a senior.  4 year starter at Guard.

Defensive Starters Returning: (1)

#20 Kody Reeser will be a junior.  Played 9 games and recorded 96 total tackles and 1.5 sacks, 2 Ints 1 for a TD

Key Newcomers:  Adam Kipp moved in from Central York High School. 6’2″ 215 lb.

Key Stats:  Marcus Josey set a Northeastern School Passing record as a sophomore Qb.  Kody Reeser set a single season tackle record as a sophomore.

2014 Outlook: Moving up to Division 1 YAIAA football conference in District 3.  This year we will be a heavy junior and sophomore team.  A majority of our team will be returning to their starting roles except for the positions of WR, K, and one offensive lineman.

We look to have a better running game to take some of the pressure off of Marcus Josey.  It’s going to be a challenge moving to a primarily AAAA dominant schedule but we are all excited and ready to get on the field.

This year’s coaching staff will be different from last season with the addition of new defensive coordinator Jeff Mesich and new offensive lineman coach Garry Morrison from Franklin and Marshall College.
