Head Coach Will Doggett Q&A

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?

A. We run a multiple set offense. We will be running a lot of read option this year. We will be moving Devontae Lee to QB. He is our best athlete and we expect him to make a lot of plays with his arm and legs.

Ralph Hyland has come over from Central and has been very impressive so far in camp. Rubin Simmonds and Jermar Allen will also get carries.

Danny Kornegay played some WR last year and will be one of our receiving threats. George Cooper, Naim Franklin and Brandon DeJesus will also see time at WR and have looked good in camp.

Tyair Jones will be are starting TE and has looked good.

We are replacing our entire OL and looking at a lot of kids. James Bond saw some time last year and will be one of our starters, Durrick Breazeale, JJ Velez, and James Tucker could also be looking at starting. Derrick Ellerson is a 6’3 300lb sophomore that we are very high on and could be our center.

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense?

A. We play mostly a 4-3. Durrick Breazeale will be at one DE and Derrick Ellerson will be at a DT. The other line spots are up for grabs.

At linebackers will be Diontae Howard and Tyair Jones and possibly Jameer Brooks.

The secondary should be our strong suit with Byshawn Jenkins and Ralph Hyland at CB’s and Devontae Lee and Rubin Simmonds at safeties.

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?  

A. We have a group of kids that could be our kick or punt returners or both and they would be Rubin Simmonds, Devontae Lee, Ralph Hyland. Ralph and Devontae will probably be our kicker and punter too.

Key Stats: We lost our entire offense from last year. Lee had 1 Interception and returned it 102 yards for a TD. Ralph Hyland had 500 yards rushing last year at Central and 5 TD’s
