  1. I would be very surprised if Bishop McDevitt doesn’t win the game. They have play makers all over the field and honestly Prep might have put up a great game against Wood. From watching Wood they are very one dimensional. Their quarterback isn’t asked to do a lot but when he did throw wasn’t very impressive. Also McDevitt remembers that 70-0 blowout talk about some movatation.

    Score : 49 Bishop McDevitt 14 Wood

  2. @OL Coach

Your right. With your stellar analysis in proving me wrong, in no way do kids in the PCL come from other states. Are you serious? I didn’t say D12 I said the PCL. You are also a person that, though the PIAA doesn’t negate it, sees nothing wrong with having 1 or 2 powers that get all the athletes in Philly to go to. Sure, there is no advantage to that whatsoever. You are right, I don’t have to root for D12 and can just relax in my district that has above class schools that care more about kids futures than getting the few out of the vicious circle of inner city life. That would be humane of me to do. I wish the best for the kids and hope they can win it all even though the D12 boys on this site will boast that the center of HS football comes from Philly. Show a little class is all I am saying and act like you’ve been there before. It shows this is new.

  3. @tsaf77, really? Md.? De.? You’re embarrassing yourself; next you’ll have all D12 teams recruiting Florida!

Learn a little about the schools you’re ripping; it’s obvious you know NOTHING.

Nobody asked you to root for D12; being candid, nobody cares who you root for.

  4. Not much on here but kudos to the kids from Berks Catholic; wasn’t there but all I’ve read says they played a helluva game! Thanks for not listening to the whiners and actually showing up and bringing your game! Here’s to you!

  5. @RRMark, now that you have no horse in the race, could you zip it up for the next week and let real fans enjoy finals week? Thanks.

  6. Pretty much no surprises for the trip to Hershey with the teams that made it. Congrats to all the teams who made it and a great season to those that did not.
Class A should be interesting with 2 teams that have just made it to Hershey for the first time. This one should be a great game.
As far as the Hershdelphia and D12 comments. Wow. How ignorant. Yes, the PCL is very dominant with its 4 powers total, 1 in class AA and AAA; and 2 in AAAA. That’s great 4 schools recruiting the Philly burbs and population exceeding 5 million when you add the corridors of Del, Md and NJ. Excellent job building that power conference. Need I bring up PCL vs NJ Private? But then I will be ridiculed for digging.
I agree with others. It makes it difficult to root for D12 when you make comments like that. Do you guys realize by population alone D12 should have been running the show every year in a dominant fashion like D7 out west. This shouldn’t be a surprise. Plus, oh yeah, the week off for D12 in PIAA playoffs. Sorry but you D12 guys still didnt make sense of that error at all. That D12 teams that are playing next week are excellent. Not taking anything away from them however they are built that way and should be dominating. They SHOULD BE dominating with the athletes they have acquired.
Please keep your ignorant comments to yourselves and we can all root for our Eastern reps.
By the way D12 guys, are you going to show the same graditude to little Old Forge being they are a TINY school school from D2?

  7. Some quotes from George Curry in the local newspapers:

“We tried to kick away from them, but that is like telling a golfer to put the ball in the hole. He can’t do it.”

“They were a better football team.”

    My favorite:

“I look at it this way. We won the public school state championship.”

His words, not mine. Don’t kill the messenger.

  8. OK Buddy, I’ll give you a response
Tell me one time I piled on a team after a loss. Aside from Berwick, who’s fans over the top ra ra ra, really needed to be brought down from their pedestal, tell me one. I’m sure you can find one comment, because I always do it. You a D1 guy. You know how I feel about D1 football this year. I gave Neshaminy credit for playing a heck of a game. Did I pile on Catty? North Penn? Academy Park? C’mon, tell me one time, please. You have been begging me to respond to one of your silly comments for about 2 months. This is why I haven’t. I don’t care if 90% of your comments are BS. However, please don’t make up BS, and try to put it as coming out of my mouth. Good day, sir

  9. Was at Prep/ Nesh… Martin is a gunslinger, threw an early pick but shook it off and played an outstanding game. Being familiar with Pgh CC… they win in a rout, book it boys.

  10. Looks like PA will have 3 state champions with open enrollment and no boundaries. Time for the PIAA to either enforce the rules or get rid of them. Let the athletes decide where they want to play. Let the open recruiting begin!

  11. Check out the whining on Berwick Facebook page. What a bunch of cry babies. Their new thing is “congrats to Berwick, Public AAA Champs”. Get over it- you lost. And one of the main reasons is you Godly coach got out coached big time.

And learn the facts. Public schools have dominated state Championships at all 4 levels.

  12. Jive
You are spot on. All week the Berwick Curry lovers were saying how the Master would crush the Wood team. Not to mention Curry giving Wood poster board material saying they have no QB and just decent WR. That might be true but seriously why in the world would he say that knowing it would be printed. Curry the God got absolutely schooled last night in X’s and O’s. Is Curry just so smug that he feels he can act anywayhe wants. Berwick special teams were so Predictable-the young pup Devlin figured it out and exploited it big time. Not just once but several times. All week long Berwick fans said Wood hasn’t played anyone all year. Apparently Berwick had played a JV schedule.
Now we get to listen to the whiners like Buddy cry about recruiting.

  13. But you ARE piling on. You always do.
Do you wonder why many bloggers can’t get behind the PCL? Because of fans like you.
“Hershadelphia” please! I always thought you better than that.

  14. I’m not one to pile on somebody’s misery, but maybe just a little this time. I went to Prep/Neshaminy today and it went pretty much as I expected. Actually Neshaminy put up a much better fight than I expected, and it was a great game to watch. I wanted to also catch Wood/Berwick. Prep at 3:00 and Wood at 5:00 didn’t seem like much of a stretch, considering the Berwick fan that said the stadium was only 35 minutes from Philly, on the postponed games thread. It was double his estimation, so internet stream it was. I expected Wood to win pretty easily, but I’ve been hearing all week how great the Berwick coach is, and Wood better watch out! Certainly the legendary coach would make the Wood staff look like a JV crew. I was just reading an article, on a Philly website, and they had an interview with Devlin. Watching film on Berwick this week, Devlin noticed that Berwick always kicks the ball to their own sideline. Guess where Wood set the majority of their blockers on kicks? Yep, the Berwick sideline. It worked out OK. Two 75yd kickoff returns for touchdowns, and a 60yd punt return to the one yard line. We all knew Wood had the bigger, faster, stronger team. However, the Berwick folk said it didn’t matter, all we need is heart and coach Curry. I’m sure the boys played with plenty of heart. I guess 1 out of 2 ain’t bad. From what I heard on the radio, them boys played their butts off. From what I read, coach Curry looked like the JV coach.

  15. That Berwick-Wood game was close…not!

Seriously, Wood is head and shoulders above the rest. Abington Heights, Scranton Prep, Crestwood, Berwick, Academy Park, Pottsgrove…meh…they’re all pretty much equal.

Next week we’ll find out if McD can run with Wood If not, they and Cathedral Prep can be added to the group above.

  16. Berks Catholic falls to Imhotep Charter 20-0. Heck of a run by this year’s Saints team. And District 12 is repping Philly well in Hershey! Go Panthers!!!

  17. Oh, let me get this right, it must be ok for Berks Catholic to get kids who don’t go to their public school because hey, their not as big as the Philly district.

Yep I understand that logic…hypocrisy at it’s finest.

  18. If ic wins i will root for them next week last week i rpptef for catty because thats my school this week im tooting for berks catholic because i live in reading now

  19. @eric
Please do! Lol, last time you rooted against IC they won by 49 points. I’d love to go but IC Basketball plays Liwer Merion in Ardmore. So that’s where I’ll be.
