Imhotep puts great freshman and sophomore on jv to test out there character but most studs gets playing time after the 1st team is done which is probably in the middle of 3rd quarter the whole second team is mostly jv players. Also imhotep rotates at every position if they think the kid behind a starter is up to the challenge and can play at the varsity level. This is why many of the reasons why people don’t notice the jv players on varsity cause they play at a high level when they do get there chance to shine. But on the d1 imhotep is not a selfish school it has a college tour before full pads come. They drive kids to college camps like Umass West Virgina etc…..I think you can look up last years college tour on YouTube. Just giving a brief discussion why imhotep is a great football team.

  2. Truth, 11 Freshmen on the 2011 roster and they put a bunch of “studs” on JV? This is because of attributes, such as? Character/team leader/ dedication? I guess that makes sense, that freshman would bring that mold more than your D1 prospects on JV. You did give a list of kids there since freshman, and I gave you a list that showed up for their junior or senior year. You can call it whatever you want, fact is, it is recruiting players that other schools put time and effort into.
@Steve, you are dead on. I don’t know how long it will last, but right now they are the team in the Pub. There will be a bunch of variables if the state takes over the district. This is one of the few schools still on the state test tampering list, and if the state takes over the district, it could be very difficult for the school. That’s another story for another day. I am looking forward to week 2 when they play LaSalle. My guess right now is an L for LaSalle.

  3. In D2-A don’t get caught sleeping on Old Forge. I’m a Dunmore dad and saw the kids that Old Forge has coming back. The Dunmore\Old Forge games (hopefully there will be 2) should be old fashioned smash mouth games. The winner will be decided between Old Forge’s line and the effectiveness of DaQuan Buckley.

  4. @Jive

Assuming the Commonwealth doesn’t change the “structure” of the charter system in Philly, I believe Imhotep will be a football power, regardless of division, for the foreseeable future. Too much talent not to succeed!! Only coaching malpheasence would stop this train….and from what I read, coaching is solid.
They will be dominant/competitive against AA-AAAA, IMO…..this coming from a PCL man.

  5. @Jive

Come on man.. I just gave you a list of kids that were there since freshmen. You are digging for gold and you’re finding nothing. I don’t work there.. But I can tell you this, quality programs do not put kids on their varsity team just because of talent.. There should be other needed attributes for a kid to play varsity besides being a stud. That is the model of MOST highly successful programs in the country. With that being stated, let’s get back on topic because I see a three way D12 Championship sweep within the 2A, 3A and 4A. My previous rankings provides the strengths of teams now, but the real games are played in November and I see Imhotep, Wood and St Joes as the PIAA Champs.

  6. Truth, I guess facts are facts. Imhotep must have had the best JV football team in the country in 2011. All soph’s & jr’s that couldn’t make a team, that couldn’t win the AA pub, and had 40 underclassmen. Can’t debate that great JV system. That’s amazing how a kid can’t make varsity as a soph or jr, and then becomes a D1 prospect. Somebody should take them jv coaches out to dinner. Just curious, with a school that has a waiting list in the hundreds, how did the “transfers” all get in so easily?

  7. @Buckeye
“fumbled going into tie”, “5-5 that year”, coach had a hang-nail, Please!!!
    FYI: http://www.examiner.com/article/ohio-s-top-10-high-school-football-programs
They are the cream of your former state!!

PCL heard this kind of talk prior to PIAA entry. “they wouldn’t be able to hang with the ‘big boys’ of Easton, Bethlehem, Parkland et al.” “would get run over”!…..well, we’re still waiting??

From Langhorne, take route 1 South, continue onto Roosevelt Boulevard(R.B.), stop at 4641 R.B., check in. You can thank me later, it’s my gift to you.

  8. Prep,North Pocono,West Scranton & Valley View will be young teams this year. The sleeper might be North Pocono were young last year and have a lot of kids coming back.
@Rob Honsedale plays that down schedule would have a hard time getting points for the playoffs.

  9. Some D2 thoughts:

a: Dunmore will be good. their d is going to be lights out. Same with Old Forge, they are just as big up front and have 2 stud linebackers.

aa: weak. It’s been weak the last couple years but it will be weaker this year. Lehman is supposed to be the top team out of this district and any other year they would be a 7-3 team.

aaa: Berwick and AH will be the class of the district here. both are solid. Dallas has talent and should sneak in and watch out for Honesdale.

aaaa: I really don’t know about 4A, I’ll say Valley West should be the best team here but in all reality they don’t look that great on paper.

  10. @Jive Turkey

I forgot to mention #15 and #24. GREAT KIDS who came a long way.. #15 has multiple offers and #24 will be playing college ball in the fall… THATS A GOOD THING!! But without revealing any kid’s business, in no way whatsoever were these two awesome young-men ‘RECRUITED!!’ FACT!!!

  11. @JiveTurkey

I don’t make it down North Philly to watch the workouts, I make it to the games and watch the results. I know D12 football.. Plain and simple; and since you like losing debates, here are the facts:

#2 and #27 BOTH played on the 2011 Imhotep football team check here—> http://tedsilary.com/imhotepFB11.htm.. FACT!!

#33 is the ONLY player to start and play for the 2011 West catholic team and the 2012 Imhotep team.. FACT!!

#20 was never in our debate but as weak debaters do when losing; you drew this kid’s card.. #20 never played a down at Judge… FACT!!!

#3 is the kid I referred to who transferred from a school that did not have football and now has multiple D1 offers. THIS IS A GOOD THING. FACT!!

#7 never played high school football a day in his life until he strapped on a Imhotep helmet. Now he’s playing college ball… FACT!!

#9 is a TE converted from a OG and was #68 in 2011 and has been with Imhotep since a freshmen.. FACT!!

#12 has also been with Imhotep as a Freshmen and was on JV in 2011.. FACT!!

#28 is a dynamite kid who has came along way.. He has never played high school football anywhere before Imhotep… FACT!!

#52 has been with Imhotep Football since a freshmen and was a contributor to JV and now he’s a all star in his senior year.. FACT!!

#58 has been with Imhotep Football since a freshmen and was a JV player previous years. I notice they have him in the backfield now at 6′ 220..WOW! So his number may change again.. FACT!!

#68 has been with Imhotep Football since a freshmen and was a JV player in previous years.. FACT!!

#56 has been with Imhotep Football since a freshmen and was a JV player in previous years.. FACT!!

As you can see from your observations that you ASSUMED you were right because you didn’t know the FACTS!! That’s arrogance and ignorance at the same time…bad mix Jive, very bad mix.. You should come to their JV games and meet the kids one day then you will see there is a JV unpublished roster and a varsity published roster..
Maybe due to the high consumption of fast food restaurants, there are a lot of big bodies in urban Philadelphia.
These are the absolute FACTS Jive.. Give me more numbers concerning any team in D12 and I can give you the FACTS!!

    Checkmate..!! your move.

  12. @Steve,

While St Ignatius is a very good program under Chuck Kyle…you failed to read my message.
    1. STJP beat Iggy by 14 points in a very close game…Iggy fumbled going in to tie game. Iggy finished 5-5 that season…
    2. My post was in regards to Cincinnati HS football…St Ignatius is in Cleveland, OH…ACROSS THE STATE…

Anyways, if you took the entire PCL and had their best team play the Greater Catholic League South division (only 4 teams)…the PCL would be lucky to win 1-2 every 10 years. Just saying. That league really is weak.

  13. Mike/Steve-

St. Ignatius is in Cleveland, Ohio. Buckeye was referring to the Cincinnati area. Just for clarification..

  14. Pretty sure berwick beats a st. Iggy team that was ranked in the top 5 in the country in the last 30 yeara

  15. @Buckeye

    Really?!?! 30 yrs.??
Last time a PCL power lined up against a Ohio power, circa 2005: SJP 28 St. Ignatius 14
Perhaps you need to get out to more games brother!!

  16. @ Buckeye

Yeah, the Cincinnati Catholic teams are really good. It’s arguably the strongest league in the country. Still, the top PCL team would not be at the bottom. Might be at the top in a given year. This year COULD be one of those years. Saint Joe’s Prep has potential for a monster year. Could you imagine a state final with SJP and the D7 champ, would be the best matchup since CB West and Erie Cathedral Prep.

  17. @ Cinderella

Yea, I meant to put Easton on that list also.

Easton & Pennsbury play the first game of season again. We’ll see what happens.

  18. What is so funny is we’re discussing PCL football. I was born and raised in Cincinnati but now live in Langhorne. I’ve went out to watch some HS football and it’s like being an NFL fan and watching Canadian league/Arena League. If you took the best teams in the PCL they would constantly finish near the bottom. I couldn’t believe people were praising LaSalle College HS the past few years. Nobody in the last 30 years would come out to Cincinnati and run with the big boys. 28-35 point losses would be your norm. Ugly

  19. @Buddy,

You have Pennsbury listed in your top 5 in the East? Easton will beat them in the opener again this year. Pennsbury has a nice program and all but they looked soft the last couple years.

  20. @ mark d

Regarding District 2……I agree with some things you said and disagree with some things you said.

Class A – Dunmore will be very good and have a great chance to advance very far once again in the state playoffs.

Class AA – I would say the top 3 teams are Lakeland, Lake-Lehman and Wyoming Area. But I definitely agree that this class is very weak. Very poor football being played in small school D2.

Class AAA – Abington and Berwick are the top two contenders. Crestwood/Scranton Prep/West Scranton/Valley View should all be decent. Dallas has great talent once again but you really cannot expect much out of them with that Zaruta guy coaching there.

Class AAAA – I would give Valley West the nod over Scranton and DV. They have a lot of talented players returning plus some great intangibles with the coaching staff they have in place now. Last year they won the EC Title by beating two D11 teams, destroyed Berwick and did not have much of a problem going through the WVC unbeaten last year. Scranton and DV lost A TON of talent but with such large rosters they will obviously be competitive again. Hazleton should also be better this year.

  21. @ john

yea, that’s what I been reading too. SJP from the East, NA from west. Some think it’s gonna be Gateway .

The west is just loaded with big play teams. Other then Prep, top 5 teams in state would be from the west.

Top 5 AAAA teams from east are Prep, Coatesville, Neshaminy, LaSalle , and tie between Parkland & Pennsbury. Not necessarily in that order.

Keep an eye on CR South, Pennridge & CB South too.
