  1. Ray says:

Al least were not talking about North Penn. I’m about sick of them.

  2. Jay says:

Look out for Coatesville… they are loaded with talent, only lost two very close games to two very good teams (Malvern Prep, Downingtown East), and they are just downright nasty! This coming from a Downingtown alum/fan, btw.

  3. Curious says:

Clairton is at team winning off of history, simply put, when a team plays them, just hit them in the mouth, then the real game will be on…..too light of a schedule for me to say “wooo, great team” NOT! Too mnay teams don’t go toe to toe with them, big, BIG mistake! Hit them hard they step back a few steps.
Their time is up just like other teams who made a nice run.

  4. Curious says:

    Your Rankings blow!

  5. Clark31C says:

I THINK CLAIRTON NEEDS TO MOVE UP AND PLAY SOME REAL TEAMS . THEY BEAT ,I MEAN RUN OVER EVERY TEAM IN AA CLASS . MY ? IS ARE THEY REALLY THAT GOOD OF A TEAM EVERY YEAR?????? SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW .THANKS.

  6. Josh Funk says:

Thanks, everybody. On a positive note, this will open up my Friday nights for the first time all season long, so I’m planning to stay close to the home base (Milton) and cover the Selinsgrove-Danville game at Danville, which is for all the marbles in the Heartland Athletic Conference Division-I.

When I first got the news yesterday, the thought ran through my head to take the rest of the season off – no more games, no anything football-related – and limit my focus solely to searching for work. But I came to my senses and realized I’ve still got to allow myself to do some things that I enjoy, just be responsible and disciplined about it.

Besides, I’ve got to give you guys weekly fodder to debate/disagree with me with my rankings anyway. Ron, DJ, HSFan & Cville fan, you guys have no idea the smile I got yesterday when I saw your comments. I didn’t care that you disagreed. I was just happy for something being constant when it didn’t feel like much else was.

  7. Ron says:

Josh, been there, done that; sorry to hear! One day life will be better.

  8. Jim says:

Josh sorry to hear the news. Things happen for a reason and you will bounce back better than before. Hs fan parkland most dangerous team in d2/411 period

  9. Dan says:

    @ Josh Funk

Sorry to hear that. I’ve been there and it sucks.

    @ HSfan

Parkland is a very good team, but if you’ll notice, every team in the top 10 is either undefeated or has 1 loss. That includes Easton who beat Parkland, and Scranton, which beat Del Val.

  10. Josh Funk says:

Hey guys – just wanted to thank you all for your comments. They are the only thing that feels normal this week – I was laid off from work yesterday. I’ve had a rough last six months personally, so thanks for helping take my mind off of reality for a bit.

DJ – So, if you were in my position, where would you rank CP & Montour? Flip-flop them? Neither is ranked ahead of McDevitt (the school you say you are a fan of), so I’m curious to know why you feel as you do.

Ron – My rankings are merely one opinion, and you are perfectly entitled to think D2 is underrated.

  11. HSfan says:

i dont see how parkland is only honorable mention in AAAA yeah they lost 2 real close games to start season to del val and easton, since then they have steam rolled everyone including whitehall by 30+ points who just beat easton, catty needs to move up too thats unreal they are tied for 10th in the ranking. these rankings arent that credible cuz we all know in AAA classification its gonna come down to ACC and berwick/abington hts fighting their way to play wood in the east final

  12. DJ Sample says:

& watch out for the Harrisburg Cougars!

  13. DJ Sample says:

I’m a big time Mcdevitt fan but there is no way Erie Prep & Montour should be ranked where they are.

  14. RON says:

@ Josh Funk,in AAA you have 4 wpial teams in the top ten and 5 more in hm. Abington Heights and Berwick could beat most of those teams. looked at pa football news rankings, Berwick is #6 in aaa, only team ahead from wpial is tj. d2 is under rated in your aaa ratings.

  15. Rollie Ciffo says:

Coatesville is, points-wise, 9th in AAAA in District 1. They should make the district playoffs. So, if they are really good, the cream, as they say, will rise to the top.

  16. John says:

    Thanks rollie!

  17. CVILLE FAN says:

Wow who comes up with the RANKING? Can someone please tell me WHY Coatesville is not RANKED or in the HONORABLE MENTION?

  18. mark d says:

Abington plays 3 AAAA schools and the rest are AAA

  19. Rollie Ciffo says:

Brian is right. Pafootballnews.com posts the PIAA points rankings here (http://www.pawrsl.com/pfn/rankings_district_state_pfn_index_2012.htm).

Note Districts 3 & 11 use their own rankings.

  20. J. Farmer says:

So Berwick won and dropped out of the top ten? Is Abington Heights that much better? How many quad A schools do they play?

  21. brian says:

all rankings are biased and rankings are not used for playoffs. district seeding is based on points and then each district winner advances to states. The playoff matchups are based on the brackets set up by PIAA. Rankings are always just for fun and debate.

  22. John says:

I have seen 2-3 different ranking type polls. Can someone direct me to an offical ranking by A-AAAA that will be used for the playoffs? Thanks.
