  1. Easy there Josh… Just pointing out that in the east, for this week, this is the best matchup. If you would have read the entire post, I did call out the the SJP-LaSalle game the following week. I’m a CBSouth guy, but hopefully if you are reading my comments, but claiming to be enter of the PA HS football universe. You can now get over yourself.

  2. I’m afraid Funk is right.

This game is bigger for NP then CBS. I think NP will beat them without too much trouble.
Then NP will run the table ( beating both Pennridge & Souderton in the process).
They will make the playoffs, but that’s where the buck stops.
They won’t get far enough in the playoffs to avenge any lose to the PCL teams.
Just so someone beats whatever PCL team makes it to the final, that’s the most important thing.

Of course Easton might do that for us.

  3. CB South guy,

Sorry, NP-CBS is a good game, but not in the same caliber as NA-Gateway. The NA-Gateway game will feature 8 future Division-1 prospects (NA – Mack Leftwich, Pat Kugler, Elijah Zeise; Gateway – Tommy Woodson, Jaymar Parrish, Montae Nicholson, Ricky Rogers & Brenon Thrift). I guarantee you there aren’t a combined 8 D-1 recruits in the NP-CBS game, nor is that game regarded as a potential preview of the D1 AAAA final, whereas NA and Gateway could both very well meet up again at Heinz Field in Week 13. The Eastern PA game which most closely resembles NA-Gateway is the SJP-LaSalle showdown in Week 7.

  4. NPenn-CBSouth would probably be the Eastern PA version of that N allegheny/Gateway matchup. NPenn has two losses, both against top 10 state, PCL teams, nothing to sneeze at, and South, while undefeated, still needs to beat a big boy to be validated. CBS has only beaten NPenn once in their History. Next week has LaSalle/STJoesPrep, so some good football coming up over the next couple weeks.

  5. @philly:

That’s for sure. That probably trumps any match-ups we have here in the East for this week.

That game might just be televised.

  6. This weekend there’s a pretty big one out west. North Allegheny and Gateway are going toe to toe, a battle of undefeateds.

  7. Prep defense has been dominate, they shut Down a national rank running back coco, one of the top wide receivers in PA, only way I see Lasalle winning this game their offensive line has to be dominate.

  8. @Buddy
LaSalle v Prep should be a great one, I think its too close to call, maybe a slight edge to Prep but Qb Chris Kane has looked dominant and so has the defense

  9. Let’s just call it ” THE CLASH”

In 2 weeks, LaSalle vs SJ Prep

Even though I’m not a PCL fan, that game is worth catching.

  10. Who are some of the top performers from Week 5?

    Rushing
374 yds – Colin McDermott – Allentown Central Catholic
362 yds – Lucas Klingerman – Mount Carmel Area
    277 yds – Adam Geiger – Trinity
252 yds – Chris Geiss – Great Valley
    241 yds – Noah Huff – Towanda

    Passing
291 yds – Michael Shuster – Camp Hill
    266 yds – Mike Boguski – Trinity
256 yds – Andrew Ford – Cedar Cliff
    252 yds – Zack Bradley – Catasauqua
    233 yds – Nick Cook – Northampton

    Receiving
184 yds – Deshawn Williams – Camp Hill
    156 yds – Danny Jackson – Trinity
    140 yds – Alex Parker – Catasauqua
128 yds – Ryan Hubley – Oxford Area
    128 yds – Kellen Williams – Chambersburg

  11. Wow big wins for Scranton ,Del Valley and Old Forge. The cream is rising to to the top
AAAA Scranton & Del Vslley will probaly make the 2-4-11 sub regional
AAA lot of teams at 4-1 at the mid point
AA stil a ton of teams in the race
A Old Forge look like the team to beat

  12. @CBSouth guy

Adams had 199 yards with 4 TDs.

    @Buddy

South plays Pennridge after North Penn. Hoping that South doesn’t overlook North Penn and takes everything week by week.

  13. BIG GAME NEXT WEEK @ NORTH PENN!
Should be a terrific game with both squads playing hot. The big question is if South can stop North Penn’s not fancy, but efficient offense. Also North Penn bolsters in my opinion one of the most disciplined and fastest defenses in the state, so South offense needs to execute on or North Penn is going to win it.

  14. South 44-28 win was solid but not spectacular. Gave up a long KO return right before the half to make it 28-21 at half and keep Souderton in it but kept Souderton at arms length all night. Adams with another big night despite Souderton crashing the box the whole 2nd half. He probably had 225 (?) with 4 tds. At North Penn next week is a big one.

  15. It doesn’t end for CB South this week either. Thay play at NP next week. That’s a big game for both schools. That will make or break NP’s season. If NP can win that ( a big if), then I think they will run the table, if not , they won’t make the playoffs.
South is in a little better situation. They have no loses as of yet. They should still make the playoffs even with a lose to NP. Of course, if they lose to Souderton, they would be on the bubble.

  16. Last years CBS Souderton game was a classic. Souderton put on long drives, while South would score with big plays. Souderton held on for a tight win. South’s defense looks better than last year but lost Johns and Brown, but are stil putting up points, albeit vs teams that haven’t really done anything. Should be a good matchup.

  17. High School is the four years where boys turn into men. For most of these children this is the time where their path in life will start, or end. I really had to kick myself today, take a step back, and think about what’s important about HS football. THE KIDS! Let’s all not forget that these boys go to school for an education first. Football is a privilege for the student athlete. Sure, I love going to the games and look forward to the banter on this site. 99.9% of these kids will not make a nickle playing football. We as fathers, mothers, mentors, coaches, and frinds have a huge responsibility making sure these boys get their education first.

  18. Up here in d2 lots of big games
Old Forge @ Riverside match up of state ranked A teams and always one of the most intense games of the year
In AA everyone is still a contender, every game a big one
AAA @ AAAA Scranton @ Valley View match up of 4-0 teams. also Del valley at West Scranton match up of 4-0 and a 3-1 teams
Next 5 weeks all the front runners play each other time for some real exciting football.
P.S belive it or not were actually throwing the ball around here !!!!!!

  19. @jiveturkey

I play for them that’s how I know so everything that I say is dead but yea let me clear up what I said when i mean every’s body is coming back we have about 5 leaving that’s all but our team will still be a solid team next.

  20. @????
When you say really we have every one coming back, I assume you have a pretty strong interest in Imhotep. I don’t have the hands on insight that you do, however, a quick look tells me a few things. Leading rusher is Young and the second leading rusher is Williams. Young is also the leading receiver. ESPN has Williams as the best back in the State. These two are also tied for the team lead in scoring, with each other. These two are Seniors! Is there some kind of deal with the PIAA that is going to allow them to play a 5th year? If such a deal is not in place “so really we have everyone coming back” is one of the greatest comments I’ve ever seen on this site.
    @phillyboy,
I’m pretty sure Oak Hill is in Virginia. Not positive, but I remember seeing some show about it being in the mountains, in the middle of nowhere. Your point, though, was dead on. These kids went to Imhotep to play football, and only to play football, for last years offensive coach at West. The recruiting here rivals anything Wood has pulled off in years. I honestly don’t care what kind of team he builds. Problem is, if you build what you believe to be a powerhouse, why play a JV schedule?

  21. @jack12

Imhotep has plenty of talent in the 2014 and 2015 class they have all their line men returning next year and one db leaves and a DT we still have crazy speed returning with #20 and #25 in the back field one wide out leaves #23 is a sophomore he returning and the QB #4 is coming back so really we have every one coming back
