Notes: The defense improved last season as the Cougars allowed just 13.7 compared to 2008 when they allowed an impressive 16.1 points per contest.

Hazleton football will be in good hands with first-year head coach Paul Marranca patrolling the sidelines. Marranca has twenty-seven years of heading coaching experience mostly at Wyoming Area. He led the Warriors to three District 2 championships during his stay.

The Cougars defense held six of their twelve opponents to single digits in 2009. As impressive as the defense was one year ago, the offense slipped a little as the scoring production decreased from 29.1 (2008) to 20.6 (2009).

The Cougars last suffered through a losing season in 1999 (5-7). Since them, Hazleton has been impressive by amassing eighty-three victories since the turn of the century.
