George Curry who coached high school football for 42 years has stepped down as head coach at Woming Valley West. Coach Curry has 413 victories with six PIAA Class 3A championships. Curry said, “I’m not coaching anymore. I’m done for good.”
At a board meeting last night (Wednesday 12/3), Pat Keating was named head coach at Woming Valley West.

During a stretch in the 80’s and 90’s at Berwick Area, Curry won 6 State titles. Curry left Berwick Area with a record of 387-83-5. He also won three mythical national championships and was national coach of the year twice at Berwick Area too.

In 2005 Curry stepped down as head coach at Berwick Area. In 2006 Curry replaced Ed Michaels as head coach at Wyoming Valley West. At Wyoming Valley West his record was 26-8 in three seasons. Curry will still do his camps and maybe some tv in the future.

  1. Eric says:

We will all benefit from Coach Curry retiring from schools. His recruiting reign is finally over and now maybe kids that live within a specified school district will play rather than kids recruited by Curry!

  2. Camil says:

From a Berwick graduate of the “Curry” era I wish Coach Curry all the luck. GO DAWGS
