Middletown runs over Delone Catholic

The game was close at the start with both teams punting on their first possession.  On Delone Catholic’s 2nd possession Senior quarterback Noah Landi was intercepted by Junior defensive back Mike Lupa to give Middletown the ball. 

Middletown had the ball 3rd and short but were unable to convert for a first down and had to punt.  Delone Catholic got the ball into Middletown territory with a nice run by Junior running back Dustin Reed.  This set up a field goal attempt for Delone Catholic but the kick was no good.  Middletown was unable to move into scoring range on their opportunity with the ball and had to punt back to Delone Catholic. 

Delone on it’s next opportunity with the ball went for it on fourth down but were unable to convert for the first down giving the ball back to Middletown.  Middletown took advantage of the opportunity when junior quarterback Aaron Lupla found senior wide receiver Trey McElwee for a two yard touchdown pass making the score 7-0 Middletown.  When Delone Catholic got the ball back they turned it over once again on another interception.  Middletown took advantage once again when Aaron Lupla ran for the touchdown on a quarterback draw play. 

The score was now 14-0 Middletown with the lead.  Mike Lupia intercepted another pass on Delone’s next possession killing any chance of the Squires scoring before the half. 

At the half the score was still 14-0 Middletown.  Middletown got the ball to start the osecnd half and drove the ball all the way for the score.  Running back Rodney Ramsey scored on an 11 yard TD run.  The Raiders were flagged on the extra point attempt.  They still managed to make the try from 35 yards away making the score 21-0 Middletown in control. 

Delone could not manage to get into scoring range again and had to punt the ball back to Middletown.  Middletown scored on it’s opportunity with the ball when Rodney Ramsey found the end zone making the score 28-0. 

Delone Catholic went for it on fourth and four on their possession with the ball but were unable to convert when Landi’s pass fell incomplete giving the ball back to the Raiders.  The Raiders went right to work scoring on a 53 yard run by Ramsey making the score 35-0. 

Delone turned the ball over again on another interception sealing the deal for the Raiders The game ended with the score 35-0 with Middletown coming out the victor.

    this middletown team is the real deal this year..they have a young and tough team.Rodney Ramsy is a solid back who had a spectacular year.The A.lupia and trey Mcelwee connection this year has worked just near perfection. The senior line and very strong defence gets better every game. If you didnt know about the new kicker this year then your missing a phenominal player. He has had an amazing year putting many kicks in the endzone and making big extra points along with a 36 yard field goal. If it comes down to it this week they can use him for a big field goal but if the team shows up to play it wont be that close! GOOD LUCK MTOWN
