What game(s) are you going to attend week one? Break down the matchup of your game.

I will be covering the Downingtown East vs. Allentown Central Catholic game. It will be interesting to see ACC’s offensive/defensive line. Can they contain Drew Harris? Any one else going to this one?

We will be covering about 20 games this first week!

I saw Easton take it to a very disappointing Pennsbury team which is poorly coached offensively. Time at Pennsbury for a new head coach never has the team ready. Long season for the Falcons but have all the weapons, its a shame. A once proud program ran into the ground.

Great game between Souderton & Neshaminy! I actually expected Souderton to lose badly, but they didn’t ( 20 to 13). It is damn near impossible to win at “Heartbreak ridge”, just ask North Penn! I consider Neshaminy the 3rd best team in Eastern Pa.( behind Wood & ACC). Kudos to Big Red! They will be a force.

  3. Buddy says:

    @ Brian Hope:

I hope Souderton doesn’t try to push their students through the system either, nor Pennridge, nor Quakertown , nor etc. etc. Obviously your an avid Souderton fan and you should be. But NP has no more, or no less, academic problems then any other Suburban One school ( 2003 not withstanding). Size does not equate to stupid. I agree , NP seems to be over rated at this point, they get high rankings just because they are North Penn ( shades of CB West years ago). You don’t have to keep telling us about Souderton. People who follow high school football, like you & me, know they have a GREAT team ( ranked 6th by the Inquirer, NP ranked 3rd). I expect Souderton to be NP toughest test next to LaSalle. We’ll find out Oct. 21st, on the assumption that most of NP star players aren’t deemed ineligible by then.

  4. Brian Hope says:

    To Buddy & bro47,
I agree I saw LaSalle in their scrimmage against Pennsbury and they did not that good. I think both teams are over rated. North Penn may have an issue with eligability with some of their star players with the grades later in the season according to some of the students, not that bright. Time will tell. I hope the school just doesn’t just push them through the system. I’m telling you to keep an eye on Souderton, their good.

    @ JC3000:

Man I envy you. I got comcast & they couldn’t care less about high school football. They don’t cover a single damn game from District one!! RCN & Service Electric in the Lehigh Valley cover their local teams. So do other cable companies across the state! Comcast is too big! If you’re reading this Comcast…….. get in the game!!!! By-the-way, ESPN2 is covering, live, the PCC vs. Wood game Sunday ( yes Sunday! ) at 2 pm. Two of the top 5 teams in the state there.

  6. JC3000 says:

I will be able to see West Catholic/Roman Catholic, PW/Methacton, Harrisburg/Parkland, and Lancaster Catholic/Trinity, Susquehanna Township/Waynesboro this week either live or through tape, most likely before Tuesday.

    @ bro47:

I like your talk there bro, and I do hope your right. But NP is definetly rebuilding ( even though must people think they just ” re-load”). Lost entire backfield, yea, QB is back, but that’s it. D-backs were lost too. LaSalle appears to be bringing back more than NP. Their QB, a good one, I believe one of their top receivers are back. I’m glad that RB ( Rathman) is gone. He was devastating. On paper, it favors LaSalle, albeit slightly. LaSalle has one helluva coach too. Unless Beck ( NP coach), has a secret weapon he’s keeping under wraps ( and he could) , this will be a tough game for NP. Looking forward to it, that’s for sure. Possibly NP toughest test of the regular season.

  8. bro47 says:

North Penn wins easily against La Salle. La Salle not all that strong. Line problems on both sides of the ball.

  9. bro47 says:

La Salle didn’t show to much in a scrimmage against Pennsbury. A little over rated this year.

  10. Buddy says:

    @ MIO :

I knew that. It was a little sarcasm @ matt

  11. Mio says:

    @Buddy
    LaSalle is playing NORTH Penn.

  12. ray wyberski says:

go see eugene lewis (wyoming valley west ) at scranton word is he is going to play receiver alot this year best playmaker in all northeast p.a.

  13. Buddy says:

    @ matt”

LaSalle isn’t playing Penn. The PIAA won’t allow high schools to play colleges.

  14. James Serafine says:

    Hazleton Area @ Abington Heights

It will be interesting to see how newly named head coach Jim Drumheller has prepared this team, especially with a brutal schedule. The open the season @ AH,then have Williamsport at home and travel to Deleware Valley in week three. Cougars should be way better this year from last.

Their QB is returning as a three year starter, and some key skill players and lineman return on both sides of the ball. Hopefully Coach Drumheller can relite that fire that burned bright under Coach Rocco Petrone for 10 years.

  15. matt says:

LA SALLE BABYYYY HUGE WINS OVER PENN!

  16. Walt says:

I will be attending the J.P McCaskey & Coatesville games. Both teams have very good skill people should be a good game..

  17. James Loney says:

The Penncrest-Rustin game should be good…Rick Stroup making his coaching debut with Penncrest against a high-powered Rustin offense….Should be an intriging game.

  18. Austin Miorelli says:

I play for Tamaqua and we’re playing JT next Friday. Thorpe lost 23 seniors and Tamaqua has four returning linemen and a tailback with a 4.44 40 yard time so it probably won’t be a great matchup.

  19. Perk Valley '75 says:

I’m going to watch Lansdale Catholic against Perkiomen Valley. LC won last year’s game with a 4th quarter goal line stand. I don’t think that either team will be a powerhouse this year, but their games are always entertaining.

  20. Ken says:

Southern Columbia vs Line Mountain…Last season’s opener was a strange game. LM opened up with a 21-0 first quarter lead until SCA ripped off 49 unanswered points to beat LM 49-21. The Tigers then beat LM in the District 4 title game. Even with the loss of the Tigers RB Thomas, they still have loads of talent in guys like Moore, Fegley, Schetroma, Flore, Levan, Day, etc…Prediction: SCA 35 LM 14

  21. Dog21 says:

As good as Wood is this year if they beat PCC it will be considered an upset. PCC has just as many D1 players and more depth. I think it will be a close game.

  22. Dog21 says:

Archbishop Wood is Playing PCC not Gateway. The game is on ESPN2 on Sunday Sept 4 at 2 pm

  23. Buddy says:

    @ eastbetterthanwest:

Be asured, I will give you notice.

  24. eastbetterthanwest says:

I am predicting Lasalle HUGE over North Penn. Lasalle owns the Knights until further notice.

  25. Dale Chalk says:

Archbishop Wood vs. Gateway should be a thriller… I am picking wood due to their large amount of division players including the peoples(Rutgers/Temple) and Colin Thompson (Florida)

  26. Mark says:

    Coughlin vs Dallas

  27. Brandon Barber says:

Shamokin vs. Mifflinnburg…As a former mifflinburg player I see my ala mater doing very well this season with the return of alex vidunas at QB and connor pierce at WR. Shamokin from what I understand still has their big O-line and D-line, which was a problem last year. But I expect this year the cats’ to avenge lasts years loss with an early win. My prediction 27-13 in favor of mifflinburg.

  28. James Loney says:

Garnet Valley vs. Unionville….Watch out for Garnet Valley this year…They’re gonna surprise some people

  29. Shawn says:

    Line Mountain @ Southern Columbia.
Line Mountain is looking for some revenge after losing only to the Tigers since late 2009. If the Tigers prevail it will be the fourth time in a row of beating an otherwise undefeated Eagles team.

  30. wildcats says:

Western Wayne @ Wyoming Area should be a good game.

  31. Buddy says:

I’ll be at LaSalle/North Penn. LaSalle brings back quite abit. QB, receivers. Their major lost is that running back from last year ( Rachman I believe). But they should be solid. NP lost their entire backfield ( except QB), which means they lost their entire defensive backfield also. On paper, LaSalle should win. I’m predicting an upset here: NP: 24, LaSalle: 21

  32. eastbetterthanwest says:

Should be a great game, I’m predicting East 28 Acc 24
