District 1 Talk Week 4

Pennsbury

Pennsbury used their running attack to wear down Council Rock South in a 30-7 win Friday night.

Dante Devine and Joe Brown each had two rushing touchdowns in the game.

Council Rock South scored first to take the lead 7-0, but Pennsbury would take a 9-7 lead into halftime. Corte Rumph made a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter to give his team the lead for good.

Pennsbury (4-0) hosts Council Rock North next week.

Abington

Kevin Deal’s interception for a touchdown put Abington up by 18 over Neshaminy in the fourth quarter. Neshaminy never gave up and scored two touchdowns in the final eight minutes of the game only to fall short to Abington 28-24.

Sam Kind finished the game completing 21 of 29 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions. Wide receiver Anthony Hensley caught 15 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

Abington (3-0) plays at William Tennent on Oct. 2nd.

Ridley

Ridley rolled Friday night over Strath Haven 36-7. Strath Haven was playing without injured running back Lonnie Richardson.

Ridley took a 27-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Senior quarterback Colin Masterson passed for two touchdown and rushed for one score.

The victory moved Ridley to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.

Ridley (4-0) hosts Harriton next week.

Marple-Newtown

Marple-Newtown scored 34 straight points and went on to the 34-20 win over Conestoga.

Marple-Newtown had five rushing touchdowns in the game. Ryan White and Carl Kasarsky each had two touchdown runs. Kevin Johnson added a one-yard score.

Marple-Newtown (3-1) travels to Haverford Township.
