District 1 Talk Week 3

Quakertown

After a slow start ,Quakertown had a strong second half and went on for the 35-6 win over Cheltehham.

Senior running back Tony Latronica rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns. He also was one of one passing for 45 yards and one touchdown.

With the win Quakertown moves to 3-0 and have outscored opponents 102-12.

Quakertown (3-0) travels to Plymouth-Whitemarsh

Downingtown West

With quarterback Bret Gillespie on the sidelines with a shoulder injury Downingtown West had to rely on their defense against Chester.

Their defense had five interceptions to lead the Whippets over Chester 19-2. The Whippets held Chester to 108 total yards.

Pete Mulville had a 47-yard touchdown pass and he returned an interception 38-yards for the score.

Backup quarterback Ben Vanderslice completed 4 of 8 passes for 62 yards and one touchdown.

Downingtown West hosts Great Valley this week.

Pottsgrove

Pottsgrove’s defense led the way by forcing four turnovers and three quarterback sacks. Pottsgrove blanked Boyertown 28-0.

Maika Polamalu ran for 115 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Terrell Chestnut ran for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Chestnut completed 4 of 7 passes for 64 yards.

Pottsgrove rushed 46 times for 225 yards. On defense Pottsgrove had back-to-back shutout games.

Pottsgrove travels to Perkiomen Valley.

West Chester Henderson

The running attack of Henderson’s Couve Lafate and Will Stephenson combined for 208 yards and two touchdowns as the Warriors beat Hollidaysburg 28-7.

Henderson’s defense was good too, giving up 172 total yards and one touchdown.

With the win Henderson moves to 3-0. Henderson plays at West Chester East next.

North Penn

North Penn jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back. They defeated St. Joseph’s Prep 28-14.

Quarterback Todd Smolinsky had a huge night for the Knights. He passed for 144 yards on 11 of 18 passing and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown.

North Penn travels this week to Central Bucks South
