Week 6 notes:
Sophomore Harry Hall of Northwestern ran for 201 yards against Palmerton and now has 686 yards on the season.
Qmac Quiteh of PM West rushed for 233 yards against Allen and now has 530 on the season.
William Casella of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 264 yards and scored 4 td’s in a 48-7 win over Shenandoah Valley.  Casella, just a junior, rushed for 529 yards and scored 10 td’s in the last 2 weeks, moving him within 68 yards of reaching 3,000 for his career.
Wyl Miller of Emmaus scored 4 td’s vs Northampton and now has 11 on the season.
Mahanoy Area QB, Dylan Mahmod upped his District leading rushing totals with his 158 yards and 4 scores against Carson Long.  Mahmod now has 1,227 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns.  Mahanoy (6-0) travels to Jim Thorpe (5-1) this Friday night.  Thorpe has the 2 headed monster of Ryan Saunders (850 yards rushing, 9 td’s) and Deonte St. Hill (574 yards rushing, 10 td’s).
Pine Grove’s Ryan Heim rushed for 182 and a score against previously unbeaten Williams Valley.  Pine Grove is now 6-0.  Heim now has 1,117 yards for the season putting him in 9th place at the school.  He just moved ahead of Mike Ibarra (1,016 yards in 1994) and Brandon Emerick (1,068 yards in 2005 and 1,093 yards in 2006).  Heim’s career total of 2,330 yards puts him in 4th place at the school.  Josh Himmelberger had 2,275 yards for the Cardinals from 2008-10, now drops to 5th place.  Thanks to Pine Grove AD Scott Dimon for taking the time to provide all the stats.  Phil Vass is now in 3rd place all-time at Bangor for career rushing yards.  Vass has 2,197 yards moving by Randy Heard’s 2,171 yards.  Vass now has 27 career td’s which is one better than Heard’s 26 that he had from 1996-98.
Junior, Saquon Barkley of Whitehall went over 1,000 yards rushing for his career.  Niko Petrone of ESS (3,185 yards) and Ra’Von Burton of Catasauqua (3,176 yards) moved upped the District 11 career rushing yardage chart.  They both just went by Shawn Brice, Don Diorio and Desmond Spady of Pius X, Frank Morici of Notre Dame and Eddie Mateo of Beca/Freedom.  Petrone needs one more touchdown to join the “40 td” club.  Nick Savant of Saucon Valley now has 2,291 yards for his career which places him in 6th place all-time at the school.  He moved by Sean Spengler (2002-05) who had 2,152 yards and Eric Kuester (2005-07) who had 2,269 yards.  Savant’s 289 yards rushing last week vs Catasauqua tied Southern Lehigh’s Paul Miller for 6th best all time in the Colonial League.  Miller ran for 289 yards against Palisades in 1975.  Michael McDaniel of Bethlehem Catholic is 3rd in the District with 15 touchdowns.  NOTE: Mahmod is 5th in the State with his 1,227 yards and is 2nd in the State with 22 td’s.

Southern Lehigh’s junior, Travis Edmond threw for 296 yards against Notre Dame to set a new school record.  The old record was held by his brother Ty, who threw for 281 yards against Palmerton in 2011.  Ryan Hunt of Pen Argyl was a perfect 5 for 5 for a whopping 251 yards and 4 td passes.  The 4 td passes ties the school record held jointly by Bob Vargo (1985) and Anthony Graziani (2000).
Stephen Sedesse of Williams Valley threw one touchdown pass vs Pine Grove and is now tied with Cole Ciesnolevicz (1997-00) for the school career record with 42.  Sedeese needs 55 yards to join the career “3,000 yard” club.
Brandon Leap of Pleasant Valley is now the school career record holder for passing yards.  Leap now has 3,635 yards, breaking the old record of 3,473 yards that Trevor Micklos had from 1996-99.  Shane Graspy of Blue Mountain threw for 233 yards last week to go over 2,000 yards for his career.  Graspy now has 2,138 yards.  Dieruff’s junior Chris Marks is second in the District with 1,087 yards.
Zack Bradley of Catasauqua went over 1,000 yards for the season and now has 1,061 yards.  That’s 3rd best in the District and his 15 td passes are second best behind Sedesse’s 17.  Luke Hohenstein of PM East threw for 242 yards in a 28-22 loss to Pleasant Valley.
Parkland’s sophomore qb Devante Cross threw for 234 yards and 3 td’s vs Nazareth.  NOTE: Sedesse is 11th with his yardage and 6th in td passes in the State.

Nick Oyer of Pen Argyl caught all 5 of Hunt’s passes for 251 yards and 4 td’s.  Both are school records.  Zach Miller had 180 yards receiving and 3 td’s vs Wilson in 2011.  The 251 yards falls one yard short of the Colonial League record of 252 yards set by Zach Bogoly of Wilson last year vs Salisbury.  Brad Walter of Wilson had 279 yards receiving vs Northern Lehigh in 2005, but that was in the first round of the District playoffs.  Brady Morgan of Pottsville Nativity caught 4 passes for 202 yards and 3 td’s vs CMVT.  Joe Brennan still holds the school record when he had 215 reception yards also against CMVT in 2003 as a sophomore.
Cody Miller of Williams Valley had another td catch to up his District lead to 12.  Miller also leads the District with his 649 receiving yards.
Jacob Del Priore of Southern Lehigh leads the District with 32 receptions and is now the Spartan’s all-time reception yardage leader.  Del Priore’s 1,746 career receiving yards broke Jeff Smillie’s 3 year old school record of 1,674 yards.  His yardage is also 6th best in the Colonial League.  He moved ahead of John Gardus of Salisbury (1,724 yards) and now sits behind Wilson’s 5 horseman (Justin Scerbo, Zach Bogoly, Brad Walter, Adam Thomas and Kowan Scott).  Del Priore now has 112 career receptions, 4 behind Smillie’s school record 116.  He also moves into 4th place all-time in the Colonial League.  Del Priore moved ahead of such greats as Kowan Scott of Wilson (106), John Gardus of Salisbury (107) and Chris Garr of Nazareth (110).
Eli Redmond of Parkland caught 6 passes for 184 yards and 3 scores vs Nazareth.  The 184 yards falls 20 yards short of the school record of 204 yards held by Tim Massaquoi.  Massaquoi set the record in a 47-33 District playoff win over Nazareth in 1998.
KJ Williams of Liberty needs 71 more yards to reach 2,000 yards receiving in his career.  Matt Tuerk of Nazareth and Ryan Beville of Central Catholic are 2nd and 3rd in the District with 27 and 26 catches respectfully.  Conor Sullivan of Whitehall caught 8 passes against Bethlehem Catholic and now has 18 on the season.  NOTE: Miller still leads the State with his 12 td catches.

THE PAST AND THE PRESENT:  Back in 1983 Mike Lawrence became the all-time career rushing leader for Freedom high school.  Lawrence had back to back 1,000 yard seasons in 1982 (1,072) and 1983 (1,289) and ended his career with 2,459 yards and 30 touchdowns.  Thirty years later, there both still school records.  Lawrence also held the single game rushing record with 290 yards against Liberty in 1983.  Darrius Webb broke that record when he ran for 367 yards and 5 td’s in a 34-14 win over Parkland in 2009.  His son Ryan is a junior at Liberty.  He’s starting in the Hurricane backfield for the second year in a row and scored 3 td’s vs Central Catholic last week.  As a sophomore last year, Ryan had 68 carries for a team leading 501 yards.
