Offensive Player of the Week

Kyle McCord – SJ Prep – Sr – QB

McCord unleashed another record-setting performance, going 21-for-28 with 336 yards and 4 touchdowns. His scoring passes covered 7, 45, 79, and 13 yards with 260 of his yards coming in the opening half of play. McCord’s efforts wrapped up a magnificent career and allowed him to break the city records for TD passes (88) and yards (6,887). Both marks will originally set by former LaSalle all-timer Brett Gordon ’97.

Defensive Player of the Week

Nick Yagodich – SJ Prep – Sr – DL

Yagodich led a balanced Hawks’ defense with four total stops, including two sacks worth 14 yards in losses. Yagodich and company limited an explosive Central York offense throughout while the offense rampaged on the other side of the ball. The Hawks captured their third straight 6A state title with a convincing, 62-13, triumph.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Mason Peterson – Bonner-Prendie – Jr. – KR/RB

Late in the second quarter, the Friars fell behind, 13-12, to Archbishop Wood, but the multi-talented Peterson immediately seized back the momentum with a 97-yard kickoff return. Thus, giving the Friars a lead they would never relinquish on their way to a 38-25 victory. The school’s first-ever win over the Vikings in eleven tries. Peterson finished with 228 all-purpose yards, as he also rushed for 110 yards (6-yard TD) on 17 carries and caught a pass for another 11 yards.

  1. Justin says:

Ok I can see Kyle McCord being picked as player of week but one could argue Malik Cooper was. HOWEVER, anybody with eyes who watched the FULL game knows that ZAVIER ATKINS was the best defensive player that night! Not Nick Yagodich….But Mr. Huck you’re entitled to your own opinion.
