Wow, another exciting season is upon us. Let’s get right to District 2 news for Week No. 1.
ABINGTON HEIGHTS is a preseason favorite to win District 2 Honors, especially within the AAA Classification. Week 1 saw the Comets rise above a perennial foe, HAZLETON by way of an impressive 33-18 victory for ABINGTON HEIGHTS.
In A action, the talk of the town is OLD FORGE, who put the heat on RIVERSIDE courtesy of a 43-12 Blue Devil win.
In a AAAA tussle, SCRANTON outlasted WYOMING VALLEY WEST 18-15.
Several upset winners included NORTH POCONO; SUSQUEHANNA; ATHENS; and WESTERN WAYNE. Good Luck and Congratulations to these teams who are starting out the season with wins when most had placed them as underdogs.
Other favorites finding their way into the winners column included: DUNMORE; LAKELAND; DELAWARE VALLEY; WALLENPAUPACK and WYOMING AREA.
