We have arrived at week six of the 2009 season and any team interested in post season play will be getting down to it this weekend. In District One the top sixteen teams at AAAA and the top eight teams at AAA will live to fight another day when the regular season comes to a close. The familiar names are all there with Pennsbury, Abington, Downingtown West, North Penn and Ridley leading the way at quad A and Pottsgrove, OJ Roberts and Interboro look solid at triple A.

Last week the predictions went a perfect 5-0 and it has been along time since that happened. North Penn, Pennsbury, Cardinal O’Hara, Strath Haven and Penncrest found the victory circle.

The last three years this future teller has a 122-43 prognostication record and with a 2009 first four week record at 20-5 it is hoped we can keep up the pace the rest of this season.

This weekend several contests will go a long way in deciding both playoff position and league standings.

In a Del Val League showdown Academy Park hosts Interboro on Friday Night. Both squads are undefeated and are in the top eight in the AAA playoff race. The Academy Park Knights are coming off a hard fought win over previously undefeated Del Val rival Penn Wood 13-10. Brian McDonald made it work on both offense and defense last Saturday morning. As Knights QB he both passed and ran for the two TD’s and as linebacker he grabbed a key interception to assure victory. They will face a formidable Buc offense led by QB Brett Creighton who passed for 215 yards and two touchdowns on the way to a 60-24 win over Oxford last Friday.

The Bucs have just too many weapons on both sides of the ball for the Knights to overcome.

Prediction:    Interboro  27  Academy Park  13

Another key contest this Friday night features a Suburban One National contest between Council Rock South (4-1) traveling to fight off the undefeated Ghosts of Abington High School. The Ghosts are ranked third in Ed Thomas’ Southeast Pa Top Ten http://www.havenfootball.net/Ed%20Thomas%20Wk%206.html

QB Sam Kind has too many weapons for Council Rock to deal with and there will be no upset at Abington this week.

Prediction:     Abington  31  Council Rock South  20

The rest of the fearless forecast:

Prediction:      Downingtown West  24  West Chester Henderson  21

Prediction:      Marple Newtown  21  Strath Haven  17

 Prediction:      Ridley  28  Conestoga  10
