Coaches Q&A with Brian Gilbert:

Q. What kind of leader is he?

A. He puts the team first and is very humble. He’s the leader on and off the field for our team. He continues to impress me with his work ethic.

Q. What are his strengths as a running back?

A. He’s a very strong runner. He’s weight room strong and has strong legs. With his speed and balance it’s hard to bring him down. You have to get a clean shot on him and although he is a bigger back, he can make a move on you. So he can run you over or make a move on you and once he gets in open space, he’s gone.

He’s a student of the game. He works on all phases of his game to get better.

Q. Do you move him around and how are his hands?

A. Yes we do. He is a very good receiver. He has good hands and runs good routes.

Q. What are his strengths as a linebacker?

A. He has great range and can go sideline-to-sideline. He’s mobile out there and a good cover guy and is physical.

Q. Will he do kickoff and punt returns for you this year?

A. Yes he will do kick returns for us.

  1. Armand says:

I saw him play as reserve running back when he was a freshman in a scrimmage against Father Judge. It was immediately obvious that this kid was something special even as a 14 year old.
