DISTRICT 11 NOTES (week 5):

RUNNINGBACKS:

Logan Troup of Pine Grove toted the ball 51 times netting 275 yards and scored 3 td’s in their win over Holy Redeemer.  Troup has carried the ball 143 carries in his last 3 games (47.7 per game) and leads the District with his 1,139 yards rushing.  Fletcher Thompson of Williams Valley rushed for 278 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Mahanoy Area.  Thompson reached the 1,000-yard mark for the third consecutive year (1,001).  He’s scored 61 career td’s which ties him with 4 other players for 41st place all-time in the District.  They are Dan Tavani of Notre Dame (2000-03), Blake Bowman of Tri-Valley (2009-12), Saquon Barkley of Whitehall (2012-14), and Tyrese Brandon of Northampton (2016-19).  Colton Reber of Schuylkill Haven scored 5 td’s in their win over Nativity to up his career total to 86.  The 86 td’s tie him with Eric Rath of Pius X (1998-01), and Alex Achenbach of Williams Valley (2020-23) for 8th place all-time in the District.  Avery Walker of ES South and Chase Sukanick of Northwestern each rushed for 212 yards vs Pleasant Valley and Saucon Valley respectfully.  Walker scored twice and Sukanick scored 4 times.  Tyler Price of Marian Catholic rushed for 203 yards and 2 scores and caught 3 passes for 73 yards and a td in their loss to Shenandoah Valley.  The junior is now on the chart for both rushing and receiving.  Aaron Gordon of Notre Dame also joins the chart with his 1,142 career rushing yards.  Christian Stiehler of PM West scored 4 td’s in the first half vs ES North to up his season total to 13 and career total 32.  Sophomore Tycen Norman of Parkland came in for the injured TJ Lawrence and scored 4 td’s in their win over Northampton.  Colton Reber leads the District with his 15 td’s scored and the above mentioned Thompson, Price and Stiehler are all 2 td’s behind with 13 each.

QUARTERBACKS:

Ethan Bench of Shenandoah Valley threw for 355 yards and 6 td’s in their win over Marian Catholic.  The 355 yards is the second highest total for a Blue Devil in a game behind his own 400 yards passing vs Mahanoy Area last year.  He bumps Chris Palubinsky down to third and fourth highest.  Palubinsky threw for 352 yards vs Williams Valley in 2012, and 347 yards vs Tamaqua in 2010.  Bench’s 6 td passes tie the school record held by Brian Racis (1995 vs CMVT), and Ben Dempster (2022 vs Hancock MD).  Sophomore Dominic DiCiccio of PM West had his first career 200-yard game when he threw for 217 yards and a td vs ES North.  Thomas Murphy of Notre Dame leads the District with 1,241 yards and 19 td passes.  Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh follows with 1,160 yards.  Sams moves up one spot on the all-time career passing yardage list to 8th place with his 7,461 yards.  Jared Jenkins of Freedom drops to 9th place with his 7,393 yards he threw from 2017-19.  Cooper Madson of Nazareth (1,052 yards), Axel Burkart of Bethlehem Catholic (1,027 yards), and Cohen Kirby of Blue Mountain (1,017 yards) all went over 1,000 yards passing in week 5.  Bench with his 15 td passes and Sams with his 14 td passes follow Murphy in the District.

RECEIVERS:

Teammates David Burrous and Todd Seiger of Shenandoah Valley had big games in week 5, and both joined the chart in the process.  Burrous caught 5 passes for 113 yards and 3 td’s and now has 530 career receiving yards.  Seiger caught 4 passes for 176 yards and 2 td’s and now has 633 career receiving yards.  Remember, Seiger only played in the first and last game in 2025 and in that last game vs Mahanoy Area he caught 5 passes for a school record 216 yards and 2 td’s.  Shay Strencosky of Pottsville also joined the chart in week 5 with his 506 yards.  Chase McArdle of Panther Valley caught 6 passes for 158 yards ad 2 td’s in their win over Tunkhannock.  Chase Guers of Blue Mountain went over 1,000 yards for his career (1,034).  Otto Young of Southern Lehigh still leads the District with 32 receptions.  Henry Shultz of Whitehall moves up to 2nd with 31 receptions and takes over the District lead in reception yardage with his 494 yards.  Carter Vassa drops to second with his 445 yards that he totaled in the first 3 weeks.  The four players that have the next highest yards are only separated by 1 yard.  Kole Luckenbill of Blue Mountain (426 yards), Sean McPeek of Easton (426 yards) are tied for 3rd and Joshua Ivers-Green of Stroudsburg and Guers of BM are 1 yard behind with 425 yards each.  Jonathan Striba and Burrous of Shenandoah Valley lead the District with 7 td catches each and are followed by Guers of BM and Drew Boyd of Notre Dame with 6 each.
