Another week of Pennsylvania high school football produced huge offensive performances, milestones and plenty of touchdowns.
Tamaqua Area’s Terrence McDowell delivered one of the biggest performances, rushing for 337 yards and six touchdowns. Central York quarterback Jamin Ilgenfritz accounted for six touchdowns through the air, while Germantown Academy’s Dylan Peters led the reported passing performances with 312 yards.
There was also history at East Pennsboro, where the Panthers defeated Eastern York 21-7 to record the 500th victory in program history.
East Pennsboro Reaches 500 Wins
East Pennsboro added a significant milestone to its football history with a 21-7 victory over Eastern York.
The victory was No. 500 in school history, putting another landmark achievement in the Panthers’ record book.
Mount Carmel Area also continued a historic stretch on the ground. After rushing for 503 yards in its previous game, Mount Carmel Area followed with 476 yards. The Red Tornadoes have now rushed for 979 yards over two games, the most rushing yards in back-to-back games in program history.
Peters Tops 300 Yards Through the Air
Germantown Academy’s Dylan Peters led the reported passing performances with 312 yards.
Blue Mountain’s Cohen Kirby followed closely with 309 yards, while Southern Lehigh’s Colton Sams continued his impressive start with 304 yards.
Executive Education Academy’s Shawntez Whitsitt passed for 269 yards, Kennett’s Garrett McCracken had 266 and Stroudsburg’s Jack Mitchell finished with 262.
Perkiomen Valley’s Aiden Messatzzia and Abraham Lincoln’s Issiah Muhammad each threw for 258 yards, while Loyalsock’s Dyson Dupont had 257.
Muhlenberg’s Adriel Baez and Upper Perkiomen’s Grayson Saybo each passed for 252 yards, Shenandoah Valley’s Ethan Bench had 251 and Harrisburg’s Kayden Stephens finished with 250.
Wilson’s Cole Peterson and Salisbury’s Iovani Lopez each threw for 242 yards. Wyoming Valley West’s Damian Eastman had 240, Central York’s Ilgenfritz finished with 231, Schuylkill Haven’s Bradyn Diehl had 228 and Bethlehem Catholic’s Axel Burkart threw for 223.
Ilgenfritz Tosses Six Touchdown Passes
Ilgenfritz made the most of his 231 passing yards, throwing six touchdown passes for Central York to lead all reported quarterbacks.
Susquenita’s Rex Wilson, Bishop McDevitt’s Sebastian Williams and Palmerton Area’s T.K. Gurskey each threw five touchdown passes.
Salisbury’s Lopez was among a large group with four touchdown passes, with his performance tying the school record for touchdown passes in a game.
Burkart, Sams, Bench, McCracken, Gettysburg’s Grant Johnson, Muhammad, Lehighton’s Jack Lucykanish, New Hope-Solebury’s Jon Scrima, Lower Moreland’s Jude Gove, Milton Area’s Kamryn Wilson, Archbishop Carroll’s RJ Finlaw, Cedar Crest’s Steven Reyes, Dallas’ Talan Geskey and Midd-West’s Witten Carter also threw four touchdowns.
McDowell Takes Over on the Ground
Tamaqua Area’s Terrence McDowell turned in a monster performance, rushing for a reported week-high 337 yards and six touchdowns.
Elizabethtown’s Prince Wratto also surpassed 300 yards, finishing with 325 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Parkland’s TJ Lawrence rushed for 255 yards, Marian Catholic’s Tyler Price had 250, Avon Grove’s Dom Harriott finished with 248, and Harry S. Truman’s Koko Johnson and Central Bucks East’s Mike Price each rushed for 247.
Pine Grove Area’s Logan Troup added 239 yards, while Kutztown’s Ryan Walters and Central Dauphin’s Xavion Allen each rushed for 235.
Pocono Mountain East’s Evan Garrett had 226 yards, Downingtown West’s Amari Cannon finished with 222 and Wallenpaupack’s Ed Kiesendahl rushed for 220.
Northern Lebanon’s Brady Ryan (208), Shippensburg’s Mark Carothers (204), Mount Carmel Area’s Jaylen Delaney (203) and Northeastern’s DJ Dickson (200) also reached the 200-yard mark.
Strath Haven’s Landon Barlow just missed that mark with 199 yards, followed by Stroudsburg’s Keyen Johnson with 192 and Manheim Township’s PJ Myers with 187.
McDowell Leads Touchdown Parade
McDowell’s six rushing touchdowns were the week’s top reported total on the ground.
Harry S. Truman’s Koko Johnson and Bishop Shanahan’s Tom Conte each rushed for five touchdowns.
Southern Lehigh’s Sams, Pocono Mountain East’s Garrett, Abington Heights’ Jayden Anglin, Elizabethtown’s Wratto, Chester’s Sa’Mahd Williams and Kutztown’s Walters each scored four rushing touchdowns.
A large group reached the end zone three times, including Northern Lebanon’s Ryan, Mount Carmel Area’s Delaney, Northampton’s Chase Kessler, Archbishop Wood’s D’Andre Webb, Northeastern’s Dickson, Central Bucks East’s Mike Price, Parkland’s Lawrence, Marian Catholic’s Tyler Price, Solanco’s Wesley Bard and Central Dauphin’s Allen.
Luckenbill Nearly Reaches 200 Receiving Yards
Blue Mountain’s Kole Luckenbill led all reported receivers with 199 yards on nine receptions.
Susquehanna Township’s Raymond Sweatt finished with 166 receiving yards, while St. Joseph’s Prep’s Jett Harrison had 162.
Jersey Shore’s Carter Rhinehart recorded 158 yards on eight catches, and Salisbury’s Jadiel Gonzalez had 143 yards.
Susquenita’s Hunter Mitchell finished with 140 yards, followed by Hazleton Area’s Jose Lopez and Midd-West’s Mason Fultz with 127 apiece.
Pocono Mountain East’s Prince Albino had 126 yards on eight receptions. Stroudsburg’s Josh Ivers-Green had 125, while West Chester East’s Chase Golden, Great Valley’s Cooper Callahan and East Pennsboro’s Nasiere Ingram each finished with 124.
Central York’s DeMarcus Murray was particularly dangerous around the goal line. Murray caught five touchdown passes while finishing with 113 receiving yards.
Upper Dauphin’s Isaac Jackson and Milton Area’s Jacori Brown each caught three touchdown passes.
Robinson and Nicholas Reach Double-Digit Receptions
Palmyra’s Jaxin Robinson and Columbia’s Kareem Nicholas led all reported players with 10 receptions each.
Blue Mountain’s Luckenbill caught nine passes.
Hamburg’s Alex Soto, Jersey Shore’s Rhinehart, La Salle College’s Owen Johnson, Pocono Mountain East’s Albino and Warwick’s Vince Yacoviello each recorded eight receptions.
Warwick’s Brayden Hill, Central York’s Murray, Holy Cross’ Luca Berardi and Bonner-Prendie’s Ty Morris each finished with seven catches.
Mount Carmel Area Continues Historic Ground Attack
Mount Carmel Area led the team rushing category with 476 yards.
Combined with the Red Tornadoes’ 503 rushing yards in their previous game, Mount Carmel Area has piled up 979 yards on the ground over two games — the most rushing yards in consecutive games in program history.
Tamaqua Area also had a huge day on the ground with 444 team rushing yards, led by McDowell’s 337.
Central Bucks East rounded out the 400-yard teams with 419 rushing yards.
Six-Touchdown Performances Highlight Scoring
Central York’s Ilgenfritz and Tamaqua Area’s McDowell led the total touchdown category with six apiece.
Central York’s DeMarcus Murray, Southern Lehigh’s Sams, Upper Dauphin’s Eoghan Savage, Upper Perkiomen’s Saybo, Abraham Lincoln’s Muhammad, New Hope-Solebury’s Scrima, Harry S. Truman’s Koko Johnson, Palmyra’s Roman Russek, Bishop McDevitt’s Williams, Palmerton Area’s Gurskey and Bishop Shanahan’s Conte each accounted for five touchdowns.
Among those accounting for four were Bethlehem Catholic’s Burkart, Blue Mountain’s Kirby, Shenandoah Valley’s Bench, Pocono Mountain East’s Garrett, Kennett’s McCracken, Salisbury’s Lopez, Elizabethtown’s Wratto, Chester’s Williams and Jersey Shore’s Nolen Pauling.
Big Men Make Their Mark
The offensive linemen also made their presence felt.
Central York’s Hayden Quinn and Solanco’s Tyler Kreider led the reported pancake-block totals with seven apiece.
Tamaqua Area’s Kaden Krajcirik recorded five pancake blocks.
Wyoming Area’s Brad Bohn, Central Bucks East’s Damian DeRosa, Tamaqua Area’s James Wronski, Schuylkill Valley’s Josh Lassandro, Wyoming Seminary’s Kevin Oswalt and Susquenita’s William Shuttlesworth each recorded four.
Tamaqua Area’s Bryce Nelson and CJ Walker, Central Bucks East’s Dan Kirk, Cedar Crest’s Griffin Schomp and Susquenita’s JJ Frey and Trentin Gallagher each added three.
From East Pennsboro reaching the 500-win milestone to Mount Carmel Area establishing a program record on the ground, the week provided plenty of history.
Individually, McDowell’s 337-yard, six-touchdown performance, Ilgenfritz’s six touchdown passes and the 300-plus-yard passing efforts from Peters, Kirby and Sams highlighted another explosive week for offenses across Pennsylvania.
