Coach’s Comment: Diamante is another two-way starter returning for us at tight end and outside linebacker this fall. He is a great athlete who makes catching the ball look easy, but what we appreciate most is that he is a willing blocker who really gets after people in the run game, whether he’s taking on a defensive end or sealing off a linebacker.
On defense, he showed he can make plays against both the run and the pass last year. Thanks to his athletic ability and how well he moves in open space, he is a perfect fit at our OLB spot. That position might have the hardest job in our front seven—asking him to play the run, get after the quarterback, and cover in space—but we know he can handle it and expect a huge season from him.
