RUNNINGBACKS:
Colton Reber of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 326 yards and scored 8 td’s in their win over Marian Catholic. Reber took over the District lead for touchdowns with his 24 and moved up to 3rd in rushing yards with his 1,336 yards. Reber’s 8 td’s is a school record, breaking the old record of 7 that was achieved 4 times. Zach Barket was the first to score 7 td’s in a game in 2008 vs North Schuylkill. Kobe Brish had 2 games with 7 td’s. In 2017 as a sophomore he scored 7 td’s vs Minersville and as a senior in 2019 he again scored 7 td’s vs Minersville. And, Niko Carestia scored 7d’s vs Minersville last year as a junior. Reber, just a junior, also joined the “40 td” club and now has 43 for his career. Sean Steckert of Southern Lehigh still leads the District in rushing yardage (1,434) and is 2nd behind Reber in td’s (20). Steckert has scored 65 td’s in his career and is currently tied with Juan Gaddy of Easton (1989-92), Wyatt Clements of Lehighton (2012-15), and Trey Tremba of Parkland (2020-23) for 25th all-time in the District. QB Cole Ordway of Easton rushed 24 times for 335 yards and 6 td’s in their win over Northampton. Ironically, Ordway just the week before, didn’t have a rushing attempt and threw for 232 yards and 5 td passes. Ordway leads the EPC 18 with 1,073 rushing yards and 19 td’s scored. Marquez Wimberly of Nazareth rushed for 304 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Liberty. Wimberly is looking for his first 1,000 yard season with his current totals at 971 yards rushing and 16 td’s scored. Wimberly has 55 career td’s. We have 3 former players in the District that ended their careers with 55 td’s. They are Bob Tarola of Bethlehem Catholic (1965-67), John Gruver of Palisades (2005-08), and Darnell Ferrell of Central Catholic (2014-16). Amari Green of Pocono Mountain East had his 2nd 200 plus yard rushing game when he rushed for 230 yards in their win over ES South. Junior TJ Lawrence of Parkland hit the 30 career td mark (32) in week 7 with the 4 td’s he scored vs Dieruff. Jeziah Gregory of Whitehall scored 4 td’s including the game winner in a close win over Emmaus. Keyon Johnson of Stroudsburg (1,110 yards), Jay Santos of Emmaus (1,107 yards), and Gianni Gonnella of ES South (1,099 yards) all have over 1,000 yards rushing for their careers and are now on the chart.
QUARTERBACKS:
Matt Bodnar of Notre Dame reached the 6,000 yard career mark when he threw for 241 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Pen Argyl. Bodnar has 6,001 career passing yards and 64 career td passes. Other former qb’s to throw for exactly 64 career td’s are Corey Cinicola of Jim Thorpe (2006-09), Devante Cross of Parkland (2013-15), and Cayden Stem of Wilson (2018-21). Antonio Fontanez of Liberty leads the District in passing yards and td passes after throwing for 314 yards and 3 td’s in their loss to Nazareth. Fontanez has 1,571 yards this year, 22 yards more than Bodnar and leads the District with 25 td passes. Shane Leh of Northwestern threw for 285 yards and 5 td’s in their win over Pottsville. The 5 td’s ties the school record that Deven Bollinger did 4 times. Bollinger threw 5 td’s in a game twice in 2018 and twice in 2019. Leh went over 1,000 yards for the season (1,258) and has thrown 15 td passes. Leh has 63 career td passes joining Danny Darno of Notre Dame on the all-time District list just outside the top 20 (21st). Braden Rohn of Saucon Valley threw for 257 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Palmerton. Caden Mengel of North Schuylkill threw for 240 yards and 2 td’s while also scoring 3 td’s in their win over Bangor. Jayse Lawrence of Lehighton threw for 227 yards and 4 td’s in their loss to Blue Mountain. Dante Carr of Minersville (1,119 yards), Patrick Cahill of Central Catholic (1,102 yards), Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh (1,071 yards), and Jackson Mitchell of Stroudsburg (1,002 yards) all went over the 1,000 yards passing in week 7. Carr has 68 career td passes putting him in 14th place all-time in the District by himself. Cole Lazorick of Jim Thorpe broke the career school passing yardage record in their win over Catasauqua. Lazorick has thrown for 5,133 yards breaking Corey Cinicola’s record of 5,116 yards he threw for from 2006-09. Gavin Taff of Northampton broke the career passing yardage record vs Easton last week. Taff has thrown for 3,563 yards in his career breaking Nick Cook’s record of 3,511 yards that he threw from 2011-13. Northampton now has their top 6 qb’s all throwing in the 3,000 yard range. The other 4 are Eric Spadt (3,411 yards) from 1993-95, Jim Barrett (3,181 yards) from 1996-99, Craig Muschko (3160 yards) from 2001-03, and Joe Kerbacher (3,193 yards) from 2018-20.

Zyaire Davis of Liberty had his 3rd game this year with at least 140 yards receiving. Zyaire caught 6 passes for 140 yards and 2 td’s vs Nazareth to up his season totals to 27 catches for 631 yards and 9 td grabs.
