Easton Area Stays Undefeated with 48-28 Win Over Northampton

NORTHAMPTON – Cole Ordway is playing at a MVP level. After coming off a five passing touchdown performance last weekend, He showed he can beat you with his legs too.

Ordway rushed for 328 yards and six touchdowns to lead Easton Area (7-0) over Northampton (3-4) 48-28. With the win, the Red Rovers won their eighth straight game Friday night at Al Erdosy Stadium. “It feels great to come out of here with the win,” said Ordway, “Every win in the league is huge.”

Chris Martinez added to the Easton offense. He finished the night with 144 yards and the Red Rovers rushed for a team 474 yards.“Our plan was to run first and we did a good job doing that tonight,” said Ordway. “Our line did a great job opening the holes for us tonight.”

The Red Rovers’ offense came out strong Friday night. Chris Martinez got Easton’s first touchdown of the night, up the middle for a 16-yard touchdown run. It took one play and Ordway broke free for a 55 yard touchdown run and the Red Rovers led 14-0 lead with 7:52 left in the first quarter.

For Northampton, they needed to put a drive together and keep Easton’s offense on the sidelines. They did just that. The K-Kids answered a Red Rover score. Gavin Taff found an open Jeremiah Strowder for a 18-yard touchdown pass. Jackson Sandt’s kick was good and with 5:12 left in the quarter, the score was 14-7.

In the second quarter, Ordway got the lone touchdown. His 23-yard run put Easton up 21-7 heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, Northampton ran the ball well. Chase Kessler had a 45-yard run and Zander Rickert powered in from five yards out. Easton added on as Ordways got his third touchdown run of the night. This time it went 53 yards. After three quarters, Easton led 28 to 20.

In the fourth quarter, the Red Rover rushing attack took over. Ordway carried the Red Rovers scoring on touchdown runs of 6, 35 and 7.  Taff added a 20-yard touchdown pass to Rocco Amato in the quarter for Northampton, but it wasn’t enough.

The Red Rovers out scored the K-Kids 20-8 in the final quarter and got the win on the road.

Easton heads home to play Liberty and Northampton is on the road at Freedom.
