District 11 Top Returning Players Week 6

RUNNINGBACKS: 

District leading rusher Sean Steckert of Southern Lehigh rushed for 320 yards and 3 td’s in their win over JimThorpe. Steckert already owns the school record for a single game when he rushed for 352 yards vs Jim Thorpe last year. Steckert has rushed for 1,299 yards this season and also leads the District with 18 td’s scored. Steckert also broke the school career touchdown record. Jeremy Mack scored 62 td’s from 1995-98. Steckert now has 63 career td’s. Luke Miller of North Schuylkill rushed for 269 yards and 2 td’s in their loss to Northwestern. Miller has rushed for 1,240 yards this season. Miller joins the “40 td” club with his 40 career td’s. Schuylkill Haven’s Colton Reber went over 1,000 yards for the season (1,010) and has scored 16 td’s. Reber also joins the “40 td” club with his 40 career td’s. Nazareth senior Marquez Wimberly scored 3 td’s in a win over Pleasant Valley and now has 51 career td’s. Sophomore Fletcher Thompson of Williams Valley scored his 30th career td in week 6. Chris Frame of Northern Lehigh (1,255 yards), Terrence McDowell of Tamaqua (1,180 yards), and Braxton Lakatosh of Northwestern (1,039 yards) all have over 1,000 yards rushing for their career and are now on the chart.

QUARTERBACKS:

Axel Burkart of Bethlehem Catholic threw for 354 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Pocono Mountain East. The school record for passing yards in a game is 479 yards that Ryan Roeder threw for vs Central Catholic in 1996. The td pass record for a game at BECA is 5 that Alex Atiyeh set in 2004 and was later tied by Julian Spigner in 2014 vs Pocono Mountain East. Cole Ordway of Easton threw for 232 yards and 5 td’s in their win over Stroudsburg. The 5 td passes ties the school record that 3 qb’s before him have thrown in a game. Jonathon Baltz was the first to throw 5 td’s in a game in 2006, followed by Brad Wilkins in 2012, and Scott Poulson in 2017. Ordway also broke the career passing yardage record and td pass record. Ordway has thrown for 3,929 career yards breaking the old record of 3,815 yards that Justin Pacchioli threw for from 2008-10. Ordway has 38 career td passes breaking the old record of 37 that Pacchioli threw for. Braden Rohn of Saucon Valley threw for 332 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Catasauqua, putting him over 1,000 yards for the season (1,058). The school record for passing yards in a game is 405 yards that Robbie Kressler threw for in a loss to Pen Argyl in 2008. Cole Lazorick of Jim Thorpe had his 3rd – 200 plus yard game (250 yards) vs Southern Lehigh putting him over 1,000 yards for the season (1,070), and over 5,000 yards for his career (5,036). Sophomore Copper Madson of Nazareth threw for 231 yards and 3 td’s vs Pleasant Valley and Sophomore Ethan Bench of Shenandoah Valley threw for 225 yards and a td in their loss to Nativity. Gavin Taff of Northampton threw for 208 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Pocono Mountain West. Antonio Fontanez of Liberty leads the District with 22 td passes. Matt Bodnar of Notre Dame leads the District with 1,308 yards passing and is second in td passes with 18. He also hit the “60” td career pass mark in week 6. Other former District 11 qb’s to end their career with exactly 60 td passes, are Dan Kendra III of Bethlehem Catholic (1991-94), Travis Stefanik of Nazareth (2014-16), and Logan Edmond of Southern Lehigh (2016-18). Dante Carr of Minersville went over the 5,000 yards passing for his career in week 6 (5,048).

RECEIVERS:

Freshman Thomas Cahill of Saucon Valley caught 13 passes for 242 yards and 2 td’s vs Catasauqua. His 13 catches ties the school record that Taylor Kreitz set in 2008 vs Pen Argyl. His 242 yards is 4 yards short of Kreitz’s school record. Cahill’s 37 catches is already the 3rd highest total ever in District 11 for a freshman. Philadelphia Eagle wide receiver Jahan Dotson holds the record when he caught 60 passes at Nazareth as a freshman in 2014. Current wide receiver Carter Vassa of Bethlehem Catholic is 2nd with his 42 catches he caught in 2023. Rounding out the top 5 are Matt Camilletti of Pius X (36 in 2008), and Shane Simpson of Easton (36 in 2011). Cahill’s 530 yards earns him a spot on the chart and is the 4th highest total for a freshman ever in District 11. Vassa (792), Dotson (692), and Simpson (679) are the 3 players ahead of Cahill. Vassa also broke the school career reception yardage record in week 6. Vassa has 1,884 career receiving yards breaking the old record 1,807 yards that John Dieser had for the Golden Hawks from 1998-2000. Paiten Lapoint of Minersville caught his 21st career td pass, breaking the old record of 20 that Logan Hutsko just set last year. Alex Clark of Notre Dame caught his 22nd td pass, breaking the old record of 21 that AJ Lozano had from 2022-23. Lincoln Cook of Palisades leads the District with 41 receptions and 574 yards and also joined the “100 catch” club with his 103 receptions. Jake Puksyzn of Liberty leads the District with 10 td catches. Chris Frame of Northern Lehigh went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career (1,060).  Besides Cahill, 4 more players joined the chart. They are Vincent Tagliari of Palmerton (560 yards), Matt Dube of Minersville (542 yards), Luis Martinez of Central Catholic (502 yards), and Tanner Zelachowski of Nazareth with exactly 500 yards. Tahir Edmondson of Central Catholic caught 7 passes for 144 yards and a td in a win over Emmaus.
