QUARTERBACKS:

Luke Spang of Parkland threw for 304 yards and 3 td’s in their loss to Emmaus.  Danny Darno of Notre Dame threw for 203 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Wilson.  Darno has thrown for over 200 yards 7 times this season and has thrown 4 or td’s in 5 of those games.  He leads the District with 2,248 yards and is tied with Machalik for the District lead with 28 td passes.  Machalik is second in the District with 2,227 yards passing.  Other qb’s with 20 or more td passes this season are Sammy Sasso of Nazareth (21), Isaac Whiteash of Williams Valley (20) and Trevor Minalda of North Schuylkill (20).  Jake Fotta of Emmaus went over 3,000 yards passing for his career and currently has 3,045 yards to go along with 29 td passes.  Fotta has thrown for 1,806 yards this season and is 87 yards behind teammate Josiah Williams’ school single season passing yardage record.  Williams threw for 1,893 yards last year when Fotta missed the entire season due to an injury.  Ethan Neidig of Freedom went over 1,000 yards passing on the season and enters the playoffs with 1,065 yards.  Freshman Dante Carr of Minersville went over 1,000 yards (1,041) and sophomore Luke Kane of Tamaqua also went over 1,000 yards for the season (1,018).  Colby Mitchell of ES South ended the season the same way he started it.  Mitchell threw for 271 yards and 4 td’s in their win over ES North last week.  He threw for 256 yards and 4 td’s in their 1st game of the season vs Allen.  The senior threw for 1,595 yards and 14 td’s in his only year playing QB.

RECEIVERS:

Mason Kuehner of Nazareth caught 11 passes for 133 yards and a td and teammate Nolan Lobb caught 7 passes for 108 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Easton.  Kuehner has 56 receptions on the season for 917 yards and 8 td’s.  He joins the “100 catch” club with 102 career receptions.  Kuehner scored a total of 17 td’s this season with 6 more coming via the rush and a single td each via kickoff return, punt return and interception return.  The junior has 25 career td’s.  Lobb has 12 td grabs this season which ties him with Brady Evans of Williams Valley for the District lead.  Evans joins the ”2,000 yard club” with exactly 2,000 yards receiving for his career.  Dylan Darville now owns 3 single season school records for receiving.  He caught 51 passes for 975 yards and 11 td’s this season.  Dave Treat caught 48 passes in 1989, Matt Salvaterra had 890 yards receiving in 1998 and Treat along with Kevin White, Deonte Castro and Keith Cooke all caught 10 td passes in a season.  Darville also tied the school career td record with his 16th grab last week.  Castro caught 16 td passes in the 2017-18 seasons.  Joey Flail of North Schuylkill caught 2 td passes last week giving him 28 for his career breaking the school record.  Tevin Murray caught 27 career td passes from 2013-15.  Flail, just a junior, owns all 3 career records at the school with his 116 catches for 1,769 yards and 28 td’s.  Damian Tyminski of Pen Argyl, also a junior, owns all 3 career receiving records at the school.  Tyminski joined the “100 catch” club last week and now has 102 career receptions for 1,681 yards and 13 td catches.  Those totals are almost identical to Kuehner’s totals of 102 for 1,616 yards and 14 td’s.  Tyminski leads the District with 59 catches this season and is trailed by Kuehner’s 56 and Central Catholic sophomore Jareel Calhoun’s 56 grabs.  Calhoun caught 9 passes last week to up his total to 56 which broke the Vikings sophomore school record.  Jeff McGeehin caught 54 passes in 1971 as a sophomore.  Trey Tremba of Parkland caught 10 passes for 94 yards and a td last week vs Emmaus.  Tremba, a junior, is on the chart for both rushing yards (1,067) and receiving yards (751).  Nick Ryan of Shenandoah Valley broke the single season reception yardage school record.  Ryan caught 50 passes for 879 yards and 10 td’s this season.  Josh Ludlow of Notre Dame is the 6th player to have 50 or more receptions this season.  Ludlow has 55.  Ian Rarick of Lehighton went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career after he caught 8 passes for 83 yards last week vs Jim Thorpe.  Rarick has 1,010 career yards.

STAT OF THE WEEK:

More on Nick Ryan’s Shenandoah Valley record.  Four other Blue Devils netted over 800 yards receiving in a season.  School sources have Mike Zulkowski with 845 yards on 35 catches in 2001 and Koury Kaplafka with 841 yards on 55 catches in 2005.  Research shows that local newspaper records coincidentally have both players with 853 yards with Zulkowski catching 1 less pass and Kaplafka catching 1 more pass.  The other 2 players are Nick Merva with 818 yards in 2012 and Joey Vevasis with 803 yards that he had last year.
