Josh Bornes and Caleb Mancini pace 4-0 San Marcos in win over El Camino

Excalibur Field-San Marcos High School-San Marcos, CA-Friday, September 22, 2017: The Knights of San Marcos improve their record to 4-0 and known for their trickery of football along with the outstanding running performance of San Diego State commit Josh Bornes who carried the ball 21 times for 162 yards scored 2 touchdown runs of 1 and 2 yards along with QB Miles Hastings 12 completions out of 22 attempts for 183 yards completed a 3 yard touchdown pass to Ethan Cline while UCLA commit Kyle Phillips had 6 carries for 166 yards and Caleb Mancini kicked 3 field goals of 31, 39 and 32 yard field goals as they defeated the 3-1 Wildcats of El Camino by a 36-14 score.

San Marcos Head Football Coach Jason Texler: “Our team played hard as they could, good solid 48 minutes of football, El Camino is a good team they have some key players that are hurt ,their special teams made key mistakes which gave us opportunities to score early which was huge or our squad.”

“My quarterback Miles Hastings in his first year who is a junior here at San Marcos and knows his teammates real well he is playing hard and our teammates give him a lot of support it is real exciting for him to succeed. said coach Texler

“San Diego State bound Josh Bornes is one of the best football players in the county and he carries the team on the shoulders anywhere we need him lot this year.” “Our defense is good, they make us fight and battle for every spot we have some injuries but they are a bunch of smart kids that are good athletes they play well as a team/” “In this Avocado League there is no easy team.” said coach Texler.

For El Camino at 2-2 qb Jaden Casey threw the ball 15 completions out of 36 attempts for 215 yards and 3 interceptions as he threw 1 pass of 7 yards to Wayne Stewart. Wayne Stewart also scored the other touchdown run of 13 yards.

The Knights of San Marcos improve to 4-0 and will have a BYE week and will take on a the Falcons of Torrey Pines High School. El Camino falls to 3-2 will take on the Mavericks of LaCosta Canyon.

9-22-17 Games

The Riders of Caesar Rodney at 2-1 came back after trailing 14-13 were defeated by William Penn QB Jahsaan Gildersleeve’s game winning touchdown paced the Colonials at 1-2 to a 19-14 win.

 

The Panthers of Polytech at 2-1 on a fake punt play by DJ Rawley to Tucker Reed and defeated the Bucs of Milford 1-2 by a 16-7 score.

 

The Dover Senators at 1-2 registered their first win of the season as qb Jordan McGee’s 22 yard pass to Gabe Evans with eight minutes left in the ballgame with the PAT good by Derrick Hallock as they defeated the Raiders of Concord at 1-2 by a 28-27 score.

 

Touchdown runs of Zion Reed’s 24 yard run, Ja Ron Curtis’s 10 yard run 7 yard run by Mandela Montgomery paced the Golden Knights of Sussex Central by a 21-12 score.

Akil Garrett’s 35 yard interception, Jeremy D’ Aguilar’s interception paced the Eagles of Smyrna to a 30-18 win over Flemington, NJ.

 

Brooks Parker’s 72 yard run, QB Jacob Von Arx’ 1 yard run along with a 6 yard pass to Zachary Covington paced the Delmar Wildcats to a 34-0 win over the Vikings of St. Elizabeth.

 

88 yard run by Leroy McLaughlin, 11 and 18 yard runs by Isaiah Lake, Raymond Brady’s 5 yard run paced the Seaford Blue Jays to a 28-14 win over the Cardinals of St. Andrews.

 

The Seahawks improve their record at 3-0 on the season. Corahn Alleyne 6 carries for 82 yards and teammate Austin Edmonds each scored twice and Andrew Hudson had a 55 yd INT return for a TD as they defeated the Lions of Red Lion Christian 42-7.
Matt Drejza connected on all 6 PATs and had three touchbacks.

 

Chad Jones 3 touchdown passes of 62 yards to Leroy Lynch and 16 yards to Elijah Edmunds also with a 53 yarder to Ezirah Miller paced the Tigers of AI DuPont to a 35-14 win over the Lake Forest Spartans. Thomas Mosley scored the 2 touchdowns for the Tigers on runs of 65 and 1 yard.

 

2 touchdown runs by Benjamin Ashby of 28 and 61 yards, 2 runs of 1 and 48 yards by Kolbi Wright paced the Vikings of Cape Henlopen to a 28-22 win over North East High School From Anne Arundel County.

Reggie Grinnell’s 9 yard touchdown run along with passes of 33 yards to Keishawn Jones and 8 yards to Reggie Grinnell and Reggie also scored on a 9 yard touchdown run paced the Glasgow Dragons to a 30-3 win over the Bulldogs of Brandywine.

 

Bryson Boyd’s 7 yard run paced the Hillers of Tower Hill to a 7-0 win over Charter School.

 

Joe DiGregorio threw for 105 yards and a TD and rushed for 85 yards and 2 TDs paced the Auks of Archmere to a 50-7 win over the Hornets of Tatnall School.
Other Auks contributions as Zane Fracek had 9 unassisted tackles and Darren DiRenzo had 8 tackles and a blocked punt for a safety.
The Auks special teams blocked a punt for a safety, recovered a fumble and had a kick return for a touchdown by Antwyne Coleman.

 

Lawrence Brown’s 119 yds rushing and contributed with 3 touchdown runs of 36, 25 and 9 yards paced the Conrad School of Science to a 50-6 over First State Military Academy. Red Wolves teammate Zak Camilli carried the ball for 80 yards and scored 2 touchdown runs of 22 and 10 yards in the win.
