District 1 Talk Week 8

Bayard Rustin

In a battle for first place in the Ches-Mont League American Division, Rondell White’s four touchdown runs led Rustin over Kennett 49-14.

The Golden Knights took over first place in the division 3-0.

White rushed for 264 yards on 19 carries and four touchdowns. He scored on runs of 10,48,35 and 35 yards.

Bayard Rustin (8-0) hosts Great Valley at West Chester East HS.

Downingtown West

Senior cornerback Tommy Woodward intercepted four of five interceptions that Trey Lauletta threw to lead his team over neighboring Downingtown East 26-14.

Senior running back Kessan Christopher rushed for 124 yards on 17 carries. His 11-yard touchdown run with 3:02 sealed the victory.

Bret Gillespie threw two touchdowns, both to Peter Mulville. Mulville scored on catches of 55 and 58 yards.

Downingtown West (7-1) travels to Coatesville.

Marple-Newtown

Both teams had opportunities during the football game. The difference was the Tigers took advantage of their opportunities and went for the shut out win over Upper Darby, 23-0.

Ryan White rushed for 203 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. White also caught two passes for 22 yards and one score. Marple-Newtown rushed for 335 yards on the ground.

Ryan Duffy rushed for 100 yards on 19 carries.

Marple-Newtown (6-2) travels to Harriton.

Abington

Abington scored 20 unanswered points. Abington downed Bensalem 33-7 in a Suburban One League National Conference showdown.

Quarterback Sam Kind passed for 97 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 27 yards on the ground.

Senior wide receiver Anthony Hensley caught two touchdowns (4 and 43 yards).

Abington (5-2) hosts Pennsbury.
